Some cali mayor at Bass's press conference said in 1850 a law was passed to allow the enslavement of Cali natives, any substance to that?
I'm not even gonna look into it but "California" wasn't a thing in 1850, that was the exact time period of the gold rush that really put the place on the map. I'm sure people did drag their slaves there since people were coming in from around the world. It was literally the wild west.

I think you're incorrect. Like, you botched this. George Lucas implemented real historical aspects to the mythology of Star Wars and combed through the jedi and sith with monk beliefs to make it authentic and unique. It is a mythos as much as The Lord Of The Rings is. Star Wars isn't Star Wars without the archetypes and mythos it draws heavily from. This is when you can use the sequels as a trait of "just meaningless corporate branding".
This is correct. George Lucas was a huge fanboy of Joseph Campbell and based Star Wars on Campbell's writings.

The right to keep and bear arms in Mexico has been much more on paper than it has been in actual practice. Even before 1971, Article 10 of their constitution allowed the government to restrict various arms to only miltary use, and police could set regulations on public carrying.

After 1971, Article 10 was revised, and allowed the government to restrict what kind of arms citizens could own, and define when and where arms could be carried outside the home. As can be expected, firearm licenses are only issued to security firms, rich people, politicians, and their friends.

We are so very lucky that the right to bear arms in the US does not have the loopholes that it does in other nations.
Still it is more of a right than most countries. Yet they bitch. Ironic.

The Air Force Base al-Daphara in the UAE began to evacuate non-essential staff. Al. American embassies in Bahrain and Qatar are now evacuating non essentials. Nonessential personnel have been authorized to leave across the entire CENTCOM AOR

‌ An American official for the event: The decision to withdraw American employees at embassies in the region comes against the background of nuclear negotiations

Said law referred to California Native Americans specifically. Similar laws existed throughout US states at the time - if an Injun was giving you trouble, you could capture/enslave them legally (or just kill 'em). 1800's Californians generally went for the latter - hence, the almost total annihilation of California's Native American tribes.

Bass has dragged 30+ Mayors in CA onto her conference and they have so far called the ICE Raids slavery, the Trump Administration 'Terrorists', brought up enslavement, and stated the only reason Cali ran during covid was because of illegal workers and using it as a platform to scream and cry.

It is, but it’s not really relevant to what we were talking about, which is the fact that I incorrectly assumed almost everyone on Kiwifarms was about the age I am. It’s just a random ad hominem attack. It also has nothing to do with American politics and I’m gonna stop discussing it so as not to clog the thread.
It was more of a weird flex. Getting married and having children isn’t something that needs to be bragged about or instructed to people. It’s just … normal.

I went with my folks to see "Star Wars" when it was released in theaters. My dad said he'd seen it all before. "It was just a classic Western movie set in outer space," I remember him saying afterwards.

Looks like the Jews are going to strike Iran no matter what Trump says.

He asked them to wait but they're going ahead without American assistance I guess.

This is not a good idea Jews, you need all the friends you can get and spitting in Trump's eye just so your PM can look tough for the upcoming election is a not a good call.

"UHHH! NO STALKER PRESIDENT! YOU ARE THE REAL SLAVERS!"
Absolutely amazing. Even plantion owners in the south pre-civil war would be like 'Ya niggers fucking for real? Just embrace your slave holding status, lol."
Gentlemen, we are witnessing completely fucking retarded levels of hubris never thought possible. Even when facing destruction these retards can't deviate from the Cathedral playbook.

So, Bass just mentioned the world cup. Which got me thinking. 1: how many illegals could we get out by then, 2: does any country boycott this or 2028 LA (WHY TF IS IT IN LA?!)

It very well may be to him. He's probably right. It is a space fantasy + western + opera more than it is a sci-fi spectacle like Star Trek. That's the thing about interpretations. There's nuance. You can see it as a silly film saga about space wizards and outlaw cowboys and space nazis, and thats it. Or you can look deeper and see what George Lucas and the others were doing with the work, seeing beyond the objective narrative. They put in a lot of detail in Star Wars to make it an interesting world (and rewatchable).
