It has to do with the law Trump is using for the deployment. He is not using the Insurrection Act, he invoked 10 USC § 12406, which basically is Insurrection Act lite. While the Insurrection Act allows the military to act as a police force in the United States, 12406 explicitly does not allow the military to enforce law, but does allow them to support law enforcement in the enforcement of law. This takes the form of stuff like logistics, protecting infrastructure, and advisory roles.

As much as I would love to fedpost, the rioters are betting on the army/police to do nothing. For the last 10 or so years of BLM/mass rioting, the government and powers-that-be have time and time again have shown themselves to be either incapable or unwilling to retaliate at a response that would actually curb violence. They know nothing will stop them, and so they've been emboldened to riot, make their intentions known, and the media zeitgeist and most cuckservatives/liberals will pearl clutch and ignore what's on their doorstep.

The "protesters" think they're in a win-win where they either demoralize the population by burning and rioting, or get the shit kicked out of them by police and then cry on the news. What they do not realize is that people are sick of this shit and no one is going to cry for a bunch of hooligans burning down communities to defend illegal immigrants.

When you look at the data, promising to do something about illegal immigration was a major reason Trump and the GOP won in 2024. What the Democrats are doing is trying to wishcast the opposite and punish voters for disagreeing with them. This is not how political reality works. All that's going to happen is the rioters (with their coordinators) will escalate the situation until the riot squad goes in, fucks up their day, and then they will be faced with several rude awakenings: no one will feel sorry for them, the federal government won't make excuses for them, they will be hit with federal charges, and the USAID money for their legal fund is gone. With any luck, they will get the J6 treatment.

Mexico complaining about guns is honestly hilarious, especially when you consider guns are a RIGHT in Mexico. Literally the only reason they complain is because they don't have total control over the guns because of their own laws. Glad SCOTUS shot their lawsuit down.

The right to keep and bear arms in Mexico has been much more on paper than it has been in actual practice. Even before 1971, Article 10 of their constitution allowed the government to restrict various arms to only miltary use, and police could set regulations on public carrying.

After 1971, Article 10 was revised, and allowed the government to restrict what kind of arms citizens could own, and define when and where arms could be carried outside the home. As can be expected, firearm licenses are only issued to security firms, rich people, politicians, and their friends.

We are so very lucky that the right to bear arms in the US does not have the loopholes that it does in other nations.

Buddy my point is that buying new tires from a reputable brand at a reputable tire shop is the safest option but prohibitively expensive.

Buying a used tire from the local pick and pull is more dangerous, but buying new tires at Walmart and having their techs pull off the rims, mount the new tire and balance it is what i consider the most dangerous.

For my wife's minivan which shuttles the kids around, i buy brand new tires every 2 or 3 years for about 1200$ out the door, last time it did that was 2023. For my malibu I call the two local tire places ive done business with and just ask them if they have a set of two and have them mount and balance them. They aren't mexicans but they are guys with teeth like tiger kings boyfriend.

I can usually get a tire with 80% tread for 50$ a pop and a 10$ install where the techs have gone as far to grind down a rim they told me had rim rash. That was on my old equinox, but that was a tire that was chronically deflating that i never had an issue with after that point.

I trust local tire shops more than i trust Walmart mechanics. Buy cheap get cheap, but in the great lakes region there are a lot of smaller mechanics who do better work for equal prices. I've bought dozens of used tires for my cars over the last 20 years and never had an issue.

My wife brought her van into Walmart once because she was afraid of my air compressor and i was out of town. The Walmart mechanics fucked up all of her tire sensors. When i returned home i took it to my pick and pull guy they found the issue and fixed and laughed at me for having gone to Walmart.

Its all anecdotal, but I trust my experience over astroturfed consumerist articles. You of course should trust me as much as those articles because I'm just some guy.

I would tier it like this
S- Spending 1-1.5k on good name brand tires at dedicated tire shop
B- Spending under 100$ per tire for used tires at a local mechanic you trust
F- Letting Walmart touch your car.

No, you can have them sent to your house, some people still have tire irons and can do their own peel and mounting, not many have a balancer. Typically you're gonna have to take them in and spend 50-200$ on just the install for a set of 4.

To put a bow on it i dont risk my kids transportation on used tires, but I certainly risk my own.

I think you're incorrect. Like, you botched this. George Lucas implemented real historical aspects to the mythology of Star Wars and combed through the jedi and sith with monk beliefs to make it authentic and unique. It is a mythos as much as The Lord Of The Rings is. Star Wars isn't Star Wars without the archetypes and mythos it draws heavily from. This is when you can use the sequels and The Clone Wars (anything after Disney and in disney canon) as a trait of "just meaningless corporate branding". Even the prequels had a lot of things it added to the mythos for better or worse. You can easily use the contrast of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader as an archetype stand-in for roles from other mythologies (and even Religions). The entire world of Star Wars, the "Force" is essentially a taoist backdrop. The yin and yang constantly tugging at each other. All of this is inherently why and how anyone can get emotional about Star Wars or care so much about it.

Said law referred to California Native Americans specifically. Similar laws existed throughout US states at the time - if an Injun was giving you trouble, you could capture/enslave them legally (or just kill 'em). 1800's Californians generally went for the latter - hence, the almost total annihilation of California's Native American tribes.
