It occurs to me that they think the "shame on you" chant will be persuasive because they themselves operate out of consensus seeking within their own group. "Shame on you" works when given from one member of a group to another, those cops know they aren't in the same group as the protesters, and the protesters know it, too.

There are white Americans that would love blue collar work. It can be hard to find anymore. Orchards/vineyards/animal husbandry operations used to hire high school help. Then farmers realized you can pay illegals a shitload less and now the pay is worse than working at McDonalds while working in the sweltering heat and working your ass off.
