China will never be a military threat to us, but they have done a pretty good job economically and culturally. They own a ton of US farmland, tons of meat production, they bought up a lot of movie studios, or at least a large percentage, ten cent owns so many video game companies as well. They aren't going to roll troops into the US, or drop bombs on us, but they are waging their own sort of war.

He points out the issue has never been a lack of powers under the law. Its that they never enforced the law. And so the new powers they want aren't about the thing they are saying they are going to fix; otherwise, it would already be fixed.

The problem is China is a military threat to our allies like South Korea and Japan, and they still have nuclear weapons. I'm not certain that China will continue to be as much of an economic threat as the rest of the world gets sick and tired of their IP theft. Even India is getting sick of their shit; people forget that India and China have major territorial disputes that aren't getting any better, not to mention China's overt support for Pakistan's nuclear program.

I hate that book. It made me feel dirty to read it. You read the plot description on Wikipedia or wherever and it doesn't seem so bad, but when you experience reading it, it is.

This is part of the problem. ‘I want to see California suffer’ doesn’t work in practice. Something like the EV mandate would have been a disaster for the country as a whole, driving up used car prices, the cost of gasoline, the cost of ICE vehicles (to make up for the loss of revenue in California), electricity increases due to California buying more power, etc.

Yeah this part is basically the A.I. moratorium part of the bill. States no longer being able to resist the federal government using A.I. catalogue and track citizens. Think along the lines of a lesser version of China's social credit surveillance system, that is what people are worried about. Palantir being involved with Golden Dome is a separate but related issue. For those who are critical of Israel or Jews (left and right) this Palantir thing is doubly concerning because a company that has such close ties with Mossad and the IDF (and by extension the ADL) might potentially have access and observe most of the country. That means more deportations of pro-hamas green card and student visa holders.
