It's going to be fascinating to find out what actually happened.

If it wasn't some sort of egregious pilot error, the list of things that have to fail in order for both engines to go out is fucking huge. All of those systems are triple and quadruple redundant.

Of course it will probably end up being something stupid like that crash where the pilot inadvertently hit TOGO mode or deployed the speedbreak midair instead of the flaps or the frog who only had to let go of the God damn stick to stop the air France plane from falling into the ocean.

I think if it was a dual engine failure im betting it was caused by fuel contamination. I doubt the pajeets maintained anything at the airport well at all.

I feel bad for everyone on that plane, and RIP. We can only hope that airline safety continues to improve, so that no one suffers a horror such as this.

That said, if they determine this is pilot error, I'm going to rip on pajeets so fucking hard that I will make my previous posts calling for their genocide seem tame in comparison.

I miss the engineering driven Boeing that made safe, overbuilt aircraft which were capable of going above and beyond the design limits when called for.

In that one the actual problem was the idiotically incompetent Chinese Captain who kept causing the high g dives. And managed to tear pieces off his own plane.

Money is on pilot error, someone caught the whole thing on camera. Notice the lack of deployed flaps:https://www.bbc.com/news/videos/cy4kxq9e9gqo?utm_source=firefox-newtab-en-us

This Is What Winning Truly Looks Like: the only non-Indians killed in the plane were a "couple" of faggots.

"Fiongal** and Jamie Greenlaw-Meek, who run a spiritual wellness centre and yoga studio, talked about their “mind blowing” experiences and how “excited” they were to share tales from their trip. "

**The jokes write themselves: "fion" means anus in French slang.

Hate to admit it, but reading that it crashed into a hospital or whatever did make me laugh. A plane crash is bad enough, but doing it into an multi-story building full of doctors is just cartoonish. It's like rolling your SUV at high speed into the pet store.
And then it catches fire, and that spreads to the orphanage next door.....

Just from the videos I'm leaning towards they fucked up the takeoff requirement calculations and were overweight and misconfigured. In a high heat low pressure weather situation.

It's a screwy airport. They had to Taxi down half the runway and turn around to takeoff. But the turnaround was itself not at the end of the runway. So while an 11,000' runway they only had 8000 and change.

It took them every inch of the runway they had to get into the air. They just barely missed the overrun. That's not normal. Either low thrust from the engines. Flaps not set correctly or similar.

Engines were operating. At least enough to kick up the dirt at the end of the runway. So they were getting some thrust.

Neither of the engines looked damaged or were spitting smoke and flames the way you get with a bird or cow ingestion.

The wheels weren't on fire. So probably not a locked parking break.

If the RAT was in fact deployed it might have been due to loss of electrical power. Not engine failure. Just going by that previous passengers complaint video, there was something electrical going on. The AC on the 787 is electric. Not driven directly off the engines.

Air India is legendary for piss poor maintenance. This was a 12 year old plane. Not new.

As much as I dislike jeets, I can't imagine watching my brother getting shredded by a disintegrating aircraft while I get ejected with nary a wound.

Reminds me of the excerpt of Glamorama where Bret Easton Ellis writes about a bombing and subsequent plane crash.

“Of the three Camden graduates aboard the 747-Amanda Taylor (‘86), Stephanie Meyers ('87) and Susan Goldman ('86)-Amanda is killed first when she’s struck by a beam that crashes through the ceiling of the plane, her son reaching out to her as he’s lifted out of his seat into the air, his arms outstretched as his head mercifully smashes against an overhead bin in the craft, killing him instantly.

[…]

And the smell of rot is everywhere-coming off dismembered feet and arms and legs and torsos propped upright, off piles of intestines and crushed skulls, and the heads that are intact have screams etched across their faces. And the trees that don’t burn will have to be felled to extract airplane pieces and to recover the body parts that ornament them, yellow strings of fatty tissue draped over branches, a macabre tinsel. Stephanie Meyers is still strapped in her seat, which hangs from one of those trees, her eyeballs burned out of their sockets. And since a cargo of party confetti and gold glitter-two tons of it-were being transported to America, millions of tiny dots of purple and green and pink and orange paper cascade over the carnage.

How the Brazilians are capable of making good aircraft in such a shit hole country is beyond me.
Embraer was a pet program of the Brazilian airforce and their technical university.
it was founded by engineers, for engineers, by strict military discipline.

It has a solid foundation and a supply of engineers from the hardest to enter engineering college in latin america.

Also the lopsided exchange rate means they can spend a lot more than needed on the program and still make a profit by selling cheaper planes in dollars.

For information the Ram Air Turbine on the 787 will only automatically deploy in these scenarios.
  • Dual Engine Failure
  • All three hydraulic systems have low pressure
  • Loss of all electrical power to the flight instruments
  • Loss of electrical power to all 4 electric hydraulic pumps and flight control faults
  • Loss of electrical power to all 4 electrical hydraulic pumps and the failure of an engine on takeoff or landing
It can also be manually deployed.

overweight

piss poor maintenance.
One day it’ll be a load of things that by themselves wouldn’t down it but together will, and some of those things will be accident and some third world lack of standards (imported to the west…)
- overweight, someone got bribed repeatedly and it added up
-weight shifts to the back because someone couldn’t be arsed to load it right
- it’s hot, thin air
-fuel’s been tampered with, some middle man adulterated it for a few quid to slice off the middle
-maintenance shoddy, lack of standards…

All the holes line up. Boom.
I know aviation has higher standards but you can see standards for everything dropping and it kills people. Hospital cleaning is one example. There used to be terrifying ward matrons who ensured the (salaried) cleaners worked well. Now it’s all outsourced and done by clueless third world males who just push filthy buckets of water around and use the same cloths in toilets and wards. Same water, amd then we wonder why people die of hospital acquired pathogens.
The rot runs deep amd standards are slipping across the board. When its planes, it’s just more fiery and obvious, but it’s everywhere
