they promised this a year ago and it was only like 100 drones most of which got shot down by the Iron Dome or missed their targets plus Hamas and Hezbollah are currently preoccupied with Israel as well so it would be the status quo.

Yeah. The strikes are impressive tactically and I'm in the minority here in that I have nothing against a preemptive strike in this situation, but I don't think Israel will be able to score a true knockout blow on Iran's nuclear program.

Israel has a very big spy apparatus through Mossad which is why they managed to kill most of Hamas' leadership, if they get serious about it they can very likely do it look at the beeper operation for instance.

I'm not sure knocking out Fordow or Natanz is the goal. The actual objective may be to instead wipe out every component of the ability to weaponize and deliver the enriched uranium. This means the scientists who design, fabricate and test the warheads, the tooling, server farms which run simulations on various warhead designs, IRBM production, etc.

Sure, Iran can keep enriching uranium, but if every part of the process of making it into something useful is either a smoking ruin or fertilizer and they've been set back to square one, then it's pretty much a pointless exercise.

I mean, right now it feels like the goal is to knock out everything. Leadership, delivery, air defense, refinement, production...

I don't want to call this last-ditch, but this issue is clearly existential to Israel and I don't really see any other realistic option.

Israel's main tactic is PR. That's why Hasbara and the JIDF exist. I don't mean PR in this case as "we dindu nuffin" but more along the lines of "we're invincible and we'll kill you and rape your family if you don't submit" because the only thing protecting Israel at the end of the day is fear, and that's getting less and less effective, so they have to do bigger and bigger things to try and keep it going. That's why they'll post pictures all day long of Gaza in ruin while still failing to defeat Hamas.

Like I said before the Iranian leadership is weak, Iran always does this whenever Israel agitates them. Iran makes a big game saying 'Israel has committed its final act, we will wipe them off" and then they send weak sauce response like the drone attack from last year.
