Plus it's deep underground and not out in the open, if there's a leak radiation might not escape as easily
I seriously doubt this station had anything close to the amount of material as Chernobyl and it would have a much, much better containment building not only because of lessons learned (in part because of Chernobyl), but specifically because they were planning for what is happening now (except they probably weren't expecting the IAF to be able to spend hours running a bombing train on the reactor with impunity)
