The actual father was a drug user that was found with drugs when he kidnapped his kid. The point of it was, from the viewpoint on Nick being a lawyer and giving advice, he does in fact owe the mom an apology based on court rulings. It’s the right thing to call Nick out on because he loves his technicalities about what’s ‘provably’ true VS what’s technically speculation, his word games rely upon that. Gabe just explained it like shit.
