They weren't very good to begin with afaik. It was mostly old soviet tech. The newest foreign tech they had was a s300 system from Russia and I'm pretty sure that got blown up in last years exchange.
Their domestic stuff isn't great. Their radar coverage is patchy.
In particular their internal security is pretty shit. Going by some accounts, most of the AA was taken out from within the Iranian border before Israeli jets were anywhere near being a target. Drones snuck in and left waiting to be activated. A bunch of SF infils apparently took out some mobile units with anti-tank weaponry. etc

Dozens of ballistic missile launchers have been destroyed so far in Israeli strikes, the military says.

More seriously, the Times of Israel liveblog reports three Jewish casualties from the Iranian counterattack as of this writing, all random civilians. Two have been named so far: 73-year-old Yisrael Aloni and Etti Cohen Engel (age not given yet). Lame af tbh, this isn't even close to being equivalent to Israel's decimation of the Iranian high command and destruction of the Natanz site, it certainly doesn't seem to be making Netanyahu sweat & start looking for the exit - his biggest personal casualty so far is that he had to cancel his son's wedding, originally scheduled for Monday - as seems to be the case with Khamenei.

One theory I have why the Israeli government is acting this way recently is because they realized they're losing popular support from the West and the number of pro-Israel politicians—especially in the US—will drastically decrease in the upcoming decades. They have to act now to achieve their goals before they lose their biggest supporter, because once that happens, not only will that aid money dry up, but the threat of being sanctioned will become a possibility if they find their actions inhumane.
