Another dark day for democracy under Trump. As a Democrat I can’t properly express how scared I am for the future of this country with innocent protestors being arrested for their first amendment rights, right wing fascists carrying assault rifles like the AR15 into schools, innocent Mexicans scared for their life jackbooted Gestapo will drag them away. We need a revolution in this country to wash away all the trash and filth of these rednecks. I’m Jewish btw.

What are the odds they find a bunch of MAGA and Neo Nazi gear at his house? Totally isn't a setup so that the left can pretend the right are akshually the violent ones.
If so there will still be wrinkles on the big clean Nazi flag from being folded up in the packaging when it was bought (presumably yesterday or shortly after the Psyop was planned.)

These are state legislators, so actually kind of a nothingburger.
People should really care more about state level politics. The state government is where a lot of zealotry/insanity happens that would simply be incompatible with federal politics. As much as you may hate the people in DC you must understand they have to at least somewhat temper their more extreme positions to get/keep the job. However, federal politicians rely on these more extreme positions in individual states to shift the Overton Window. It's not just a stepping stool for individuals, but a foothold for plans they may want to push on the entire nation.

The will at first, like the Maryland Man story, but I don't think it will work out well for them. Some posters in the US Politics General 2 thread have already found that both of these politicians voted against healthcare for illegals recently. There shooter could well turn out to be some crazed leftists.

Accurate for Hortman, but not for Hoffman: https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bills/bill.php?b=Senate&f=HF1&ssn=1&y=2025

Sounds like this guy got the message!
@LOWERCASE LETTERS The choice to target them specifically is puzzling to me
It could just be proximity. Some areas are almost exclusively Dems. If you wanted to target legislators and didn’t care about party affiliation you’d pretty much only find Dems in some areas.

According to ballotpedia:
Minnesota has a Democratic triplex and a divided trifecta. The Democratic Party controls the offices of governor, secretary of state, and attorney general. The Democratic Party controls the upper chamber of the state legislature. Control of the lower chamber of the state legislature is split between parties.

These two legislators are utterly obscure and forgettable and barely ever appear in the news. The choice to target them specifically is puzzling to me as they seem to have little in common other than their respective districts bordering each other.

It could be some sort of personal grudge, I suppose.
