It was originally marketed as a 4k machine, in the same way that the serires x was going to do 4k@120fps with every game and launch with VR.What does that mean, “forced”? Games weren’t forced to be 4K or have raytracing, and it was generally marketed as a 1440p machine while the Series X was for the hardcore 4K crowd. Unless you’re saying it should have been incapable of pushing 4K or having games that use raytracing, which is just insane.
Yes it should have been incapable of pushing 4k or RT. There's an xbox for sale that does 4k, it's called a series X.
The S should have been restricted in power to keep the cost of the machine down to its bare minimum. The most powerful console rarely wins the generation, but the one which is affordable with a good library does.
At the moment, the S is just a piece of shit. It's too low powered to play current gen games in any respectable quality and too expensive to justify the cost of the thing.
A 1X with an SSD and a better CPU would have been cheaper to manufacturer, reducing the cost of purchase and allowed MS to target the audience of "it's so cheap, why not buy one for the kids/spare room/bedroom".
Yeah. They're the only VR game in the console industry.Could they?
I was speaking in general with that point but, they could have had a massive VR playerbase. They only needed 1 killer app. Destiny, Killzone, Warhawk, resistance, Battlefield, Bioshock (remake) and a whole host of isometric games would have won Sony a big audience. Not to mention, they own Bungie, and a Destiny VR game was a no brainer, that they just ignored. What playerbase did they have? A bunch of Gran Turismo players? I never really saw anyone with a PSVR2.
