I'm sure I would be griping and two beers in. But that didn't happen, so outside of you being gay and mentioning it I'm allowed to enjoy a quaint military parade.

I remember when I used to be a kid; we watched anime that had blood and gore, we played video games with blood and gore, (Mortal Kombat, Starcraft) and we watched action movies like Terminator 2 or Commando.

Perhaps that helped desensitize the concept of death for some of us. Kids today are going to freak out when they see blood for the first time.

I went to a big military event last year and was appalled at how out of sync and how out of shape the men and women were. I hope Trump and his team see this and do something about it, because as much as I respect our military, they are too soft now and not at all like your grandparents and great grandparents that served. Marching in sync should be a very basic thing all serious militaries can do.

The only alternative I could see with us actually practicing isolationism to the extreme is that we'd probably own more of Mexico. Entering WW2 was inevitable and if we ignored the Zimmerman telegram then a second real Mexican-American war would've popped off. The Mexicans were 100% sure of being able to reconquer the Southwest back to 1830 borders because we failed at capturing Poncho Villa.
It would've been devastating for Mexico since we already bombed the shit out of Mexico during the Poncho Villa hunt and seized control of a lot of their major naval ports like it was nothing before the Poncho Villa expedition began.

One thing I hate about this line of thinking, and I don't completely disagree with you but this ought to be said anyway, is that kids now are bombarded with this idea everything they like is worse than whatever their parents enjoyed as kids. You can't blame them for being neurotic when the older people they're meant to look up to are always displeased or having an episode. Most of what we liked was absolute dreck anyway.
