Say what you want about the Israelis, but they would have to be extraordinarily stupid and naive to not think there would not be any retaliatory strikes. I would imagine they expected it, and thought it was well worth the risk.

This war has been super sad for me as an Israeli and Iranian stan. On one hand, I love Persia, and Iranian Cinema. Tehran is beautiful and somewhere I want to visit.

So it's just sad the loss of life and infrastructure. And obviously I never want to hear about missiles raining down in Tel-Aviv, a place I visited. Just overall sad to me.

One of the few, "I hope both sides find peace inshallah" takes in this thread.

A 2-time precedent actually, Tonkin, Liberty, and sort of Praying Mantis. For compariaon, Iraqi jet fires on the USS Porter if I recall, apologizes, and nothing happens, but an American ship operates so close to the coast that it gets hit by an Iranian mine and suddenly there's a barrage of missiles across Iran. They're definitely preparing for something.

IAF Strike Destroys Iranian Missiles in an IRGC Base as They Prepared to Launch Them Towards Civilians​
