Sony hate thread

If there was any generation to prolong like the 7th gen it would be this one. Any marginal increase in hardware performance for the PS6 would be unnoticeable to the end-user and anybody who bought a PS5 would feel majorly gypped given that there was barely any games for the damn thing (disincentivizing them from being swindled again by buying the PS6). Further, it's an unforced error given that Xbox and Nintendo aren't going to try and push forward the hardware specification standards any time soon (if ever). Then again, consumers are cattle so maybe it'll be fine.
I wouldn't be shocked if the industry does a soft reset and Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft have a portable arms race. Sony and MS chased the Wii dragon with PSeye and Kinect.

If you had a baby when GTAV released, they're almost going to be in high school
I had a one year old when GTAV came out and another one on the way.

As far as buying a console for GTAVI. Hell yeah. To me it’s worth the price of admission and it’s going to be one of the biggest releases. Plus we don’t know when it will release on PC. And who wants to deal with Rockstar’s piece of shit launcher?

Microsoft could legitimately refocus the Xbox division around Gamepass and bow out of making Hardware - considering the Hardware usually sells at a loss anyway, and the fact this generation hasn't been good for hardware sales all around, Microsoft switching to being a Publisher and GamePass merchant isn't entirely impossible. They can't prop up everything with Windows License money forever after all...

Nintendo did just release the Switch 2, but between the fact the Switch came out in 2017 - fuck I feel old now - and the fact its been considered underpowered the whole time, they were due an upgrade there, and even then Nintendo did as Nintendo is want to do and stayed in their lane. The Switch 2 isn't a massive leap, but considering both NIntendo's audience and the games Nintendo tends to focus on, it really didn't need to be.

Sony is retarded if they think a PS6 will do anything to move the needle, especially if that thing costs more than the Switch 2, which it almost certainly will.
And who wants to deal with Rockstar’s piece of shit launcher?
This is the only part I agree with. It's kinda funny in a way how every attempt to get around having to pay Valve a cut to use Steam just results in a worse Launcher. It's probably still better than Origin, but that bar isn't exactly high...

So i could buy a used PS5 or Xbox in 2026 and buy GTAVI on launch. Or i could wait a year or two to buy a game that’ll be buggier at launch and has some of the most intrusive DRM imaginable. Plus Rockstar Launcher.

I’d rather just buy a console at this point.

Explain why you assume the PC launch will be buggy and the console launch, which is earlier, won’t be.

Alternate option: Pirate the game on PC and skip the shitty launcher, while giving no money to Pajeetstar.
That’s an option. But who know’s how long it’ll take for the game to be pirated

My guess is that the game will have always on DRM even for single player? Sounds retarded right? Well when the game is allegedly going to cost $2 billion, Rockstar will do everything they can to make the game a pain in the ass to run legitimately.

My prediction: going to come out on PC in 2027. But will probably be cracked in six months from release. And then Rockstar will send their lawyers after the crackers(if they can find em lol)

It'll be cracked within 24 hours of release because it's a massive game and a huge target. The first one to crack it gets the internet cool points.

The DRM will slow down the game and fuck the performance for anyone who buys it legit.

The quicker it comes to PC, the worse it has performed sales wise. R* will want to hold out for the double-dipping console gamers in 2027 before launching it on PC in 2028. But if the game dies on its arse like RDR2 did, then they will want an injection of players ASAP.
Every person playing GTA6 is lost revenue from GTA:O, and that makes some serious scratch,

Wasn't it Red Dead 2 that took forever to get cracked? I mean, I'm quite pessimistic about GTA6 and wouldn't pay money for it even if it NEVER got cracked, but the reality is it could be a while.
I honestly don't know, it may have done. I wouldn't be shocked if either the crack is leaked by incompetent Indians, or 'accidently' released by R* to boost numbers/free advertising after a month or so.

Maybe I'm completely off-base, but my spidey sense is tingling when it comes to GTA being a disaster.

This is exactly what I've been thinking will probably be the next step for them. Sony being one to follow industry trends would probably make the PS6 a hybrid system like the Switch 2, an independent handheld system that can play games natively on the go but with the added "Sony innovation" of a dock possessing an additional, more powerful GPU core to boost performance (similarly as some handheld PCs are able to connect via USB-C Thunderbolt to external GPUs) so games can run at higher settings than in handheld mode ( and a way to justify a higher sticker price ).

Furthermore, we really have to come to terms with the reality that physical media is no longer a concept desired by the corporate powers that be, that ship has sailed.

Even Nintendo has connivingly introduced those shitty key-cards which are glorified download codes attached to a piece of plastic just so they can have complete control to the way their costumers can have access to their games. This is going to be par for the course in the console space moving forward. Blu-ray is the last optical disc that'll be available to consumers, after that everything related to keeping data will be done on solid state storage inside the console. Any game data that can be kept as a local, external backup will be done "unofficially" by the end user against TOS of the console manufacturer.

I mean, I'm quite pessimistic about GTA6 and wouldn't pay money for it even if it NEVER got cracked, but the reality is it could be a while.

I'm pessimistic as well on two different counts:

1. The game will have very aggressive DRM and mandatory online connection that is checking constantly for the validity of your copy. Not saying that it will be impossible to crack but probably difficult enough to make it a very prolonged process, which leads to ...

2. People won't wait, consumers gotta consume and this game will break sales records like nothing we have even seen before. Rockstar knows this and because of this certainty the base game is probably going to be $90 and $100 for Early Access and with whatever Special or Collector's Edition they'll cook up the sky is the limit when it comes to pricing.

No matter how you dice it, shit is grim.

That ship has sailed the high seas, straight into the waters of the Pirate Bay. If purchase isn't ownership, piracy isn't stealing.

Define disaster.
It will sell a shit load. It won't have legs, will be boring, both offensive and inoffensive, have a £99 price tag, be too shilled, too hard by media outlets.
I think the media will try too hard to push this game when it doesn't live up to expectations, because it can't. Normies will say it's the best game ever, then will stop talking about it a week later.

Gta6 will be the point that gaming fatigue sets in for the normies.

Every time people fret over corporate control of their games, I just look over at the four terabyte hard drive on my desk full of cracked installers or ROMs for thousands of games. It's cheaper, more convenient, and more flexible for me to play games now than ever before while the mindless consoomers are getting their wallets gang-raped in EXACTLY the ways we warned them about for 20 years.

concord 2 delayed indefinitely.webp
Concord 2, I mean Marathon, delayed indefinitely. Definitely not dead though, please don't panic, investors, we'll just slowly stop mentioning it until you hopefully forget about it.

you are right.

you are wrong, niggercattle don't give much of a shit, if anything GTA5 will still be the baby's first GTA for alphas and maybe GTA6Online will be the gta of the betas, well, not from me as i won't let my kids play that heap of shit, they will play SAMP and they will like it.
