Iran hardly did anything during Israels dust-ups with Gaza and the collapse of Syria, why do you think they would have been instantly able and willing to nuke Israel? I understand that things have progressed better than anticipated here but at the end of the day, in the (American intrests only) best case scenario, all that's been accomplished the remaining Iranians are even more upset with America. They will still want to develop the bomb. America has gained nothing. Israel gains things they want which is fine for them, but we get fundamentally nothing.

Sending weapons and providing material aid to their proxies so that they have a veneer of deniability is hardly doing nothing. Like many on the Farms with Israel, the Iranians will hate America regardless of what we do, and what we would gain from this is defanging Iran, who have a proven track record of fucking with us and our military. Iran is already so diplomatically isolated that not even their main buyers of oil are willing to help them, which goes to show how little anyone actually likes them.

For the record, I'm not really a fan of an unprovoked attack against Iran by the US, even a bombing raid to destroy Fordow and Esfahan. I would've preferred that Iran was stupid enough to attack us first, but sometimes you just need to make a preemptive strike.
