Iran Allegedly Uses Swedish Gangs for Attacks on Israeli Targets in Europe
According to Swedish Television (SVT), the Iranian regime is coercing Swedish criminal networks—particularly the Foxtrot gang—to carry out attacks against Israeli targets and Iranian dissidents across Europe.
In late 2023, Foxtrot gang leader Rawa Majid fled to Iran, where he was reportedly detained. His release and protection were allegedly conditioned on ordering attacks against Tehran’s enemies in Europe.
SVT links at least seven attacks or attempted attacks in 2024 to these orders. The incidents include assaults on Israeli embassies in Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Brussels, as well as bombings and shootings targeting the defense manufacturer Elbit Systems in Gothenburg.
Examples of attacks in 2024:
31 January: A grenade was found outside Israel’s embassy in Stockholm. It failed to detonate and is believed to have been Majid’s "ticket out" of Iranian custody.
17 May: A shooting occurred outside the Israeli embassy in Stockholm. Mossad accuses Foxtrot associate Ismail Abdo of involvement.
24 May: An airsoft grenade was thrown at Israel’s embassy in Brussels. DNA traces led to a 23-year-old Foxtrot member from the Stockholm area.
June and October: Multiple bombings and shootings targeted Elbit Systems in Gothenburg and Israeli diplomatic premises in Stockholm and Copenhagen.
SVT reports that both factions of the Foxtrot gang describe being used as “political pawns” by Iranian operatives. Offers of similar operations in Germany, Belgium, and the UK have also been made.
