It's been almost 20 years since that and I genuinely have not thought about it again until just now. For some fucking reason I can picture it crystal clear.

I couldn't even find it (did not try that hard) because I also haven't, but I also haven't thought about Adam Savage for many years, either. Any time I do think of him, though, I think of that fucking thing and my memory taunts me in my misery.

I wish there were a brain cleaner app where you could sweep out the vast parts of your limited memory to remove shit like that and replace it with something actually useful.

Some "MAGA troll" went into the comments and I don't know what they said since the message got removed. Don't know if it was someone generally being "a troll" or crashing out over their justified hatred for ABDL people. I guess that didn't sit right with the very guy complaining about something a majority of furs are against and (in my words) only "support" because "basic human decency" or whatever Stockholm tactic they try to do to force furries into accepting things they're clearly uncomfortable with.

Sciggles, of course, gets giddy to the comments that unconditionally support it without any questions whatsoever. Notice it's mostly people with an FA+ membership doing it.

Sciggles get flabbergasted when someone brings up the fact that labeling a character's gender through only tags and not a drop down is most likely, from what I'm paraphrasing, a bit condescending to add during Pride Month for the sake of inclusivity since it'll cause a mass number of a confusion since not everyone will look at the tags + lots of people barely tag their stuff, if at all, which will make identifying the gender of a character even harder.

In the end, this change will do nothing. People will still not tag correctly, let alone not tag maturity ratings right. Could this be a case of people being lazy to properly tag? In some cases, sure. But the gender dropdown menu, from what I assume after reading this whole dumb thread, is pretty important since not everyone's going to look at the tags to figure out what gender some random bozo's OC is. Not to mention the chance of them not even having it tagged so figuring out the gender will be even harder.

So in the end, most people aren't having it with the update and FA staff are downplaying it and most people don't like the fact a core feature got removed to appease to said genderspecials. The usual; many such cases. Appeasing to leftists ends up not going well, more news at 11. Pack it up, everyone.

Furry Network, unironically, had the best possible chance of being that place given that it was financially backed and majority owned by Bad Dragon and their "fuck you" levels of money. FN made multiple(?) buy offers to FA which Dragoneer declined, and then during one of FA's prolonged downtimes FN just launched as a beta and clearly was not ready and operational to a point where it would attract users to stick around. They fucked up the delivery, turned a lot of people off, and those people have no reason to return. Is that site even still around? I haven't heard anyone mention its name in what feels like half a decade or longer. FN's sister site, the "no questions asked" print-on-demand service Dragon Fruit, died an expedited death and I assumed it took FN with it. That was the name of the LLC that owned all of those assets if I remember right.

The only real drawback with FN is that you'd be trading the controversies and scumbag behavior of FA's administrative staff for an entirely new set of the same shit but slightly different. You can search any of the names of Bad Dragon's personnel here and find a litany of half-substantiated rumors (and some of them actually substantiated too) about all sorts of horrifying shit. But, they also seemed like the type of people who'd be resistant to retard shit like letting babyfurs and genderniggers into their ranks (instead you're trading those two groups out for people who fuck animals or whatever).

No one really wins, but there was a time when FA could've most certainly been replaced wholesale.

To be fair though, if FN ever took off and became a genuine competitor, the question is if it would've been resistant to infiltration.
