I'm honestly interested in how that case will shake out.
I couldn't give less of a shit about anyone in that protests, but I do like to stay abreast of anything involving self defense.
From what I've seen Gamboa did nothing wrong. He was open carrying a rifle (as is legal in Utah) and from the clips I've seen he's just carrying it in a neutral barrel-down position. The peacekeeper jumped at his own shadow and started blasting.
This reminds me a little of the "hocus pocus out of focus" from the Rittenhouse trial, where the prosecution tried to used zoomed in, blurry video to claim Rittenhouse pointed his rifle first at his attackers, which would make him the initial aggressor and lose him any claim of self defense. The jury didn't buy that story, though.
If Gamboa did in fact raise his rifle in a threat, then he's culpable for the dead Samoan even if he never fired. If he didn't, MAYBE the faggoty peacekeeper might still make a claim of self defense/defense of others, but it'll look really weak.
