Bigot Brigade Something Awful and Friends - The roller-coaster train-wreck embarrassing downfall of a Web 1.0 giant and its tick offspring like from Cloverfield

LOL Zen death robot is giving out a bunch of 100,000 hour probes to some GBS superstars. All this seems to be from a free nooner request in QCS. ZDR is quite the snowflake.

ZDR is a fag that runs another man's business for free. What a great idea to get rid of people that spend money on the site. It's not like anyone's livelihood depends on it or anything. Meanwhile Lowtax is off posting let's play videos on youtube that can't even get 5k views. lol at the forums migration happening.

Tonetta is kind of an attention whore who makes threads in GBS like "Ask me about being trans" which usually don't go great because she answers most questions bitchily. It comes across like she's baiting people into saying transphobic things to her because she's annoying.

She also thinks mtf athletes should only have to be on estrogen for like 3 months before being allowed to compete with actual women.

One memorable anecdote was about how she met some skank on OK Cupid for anal. There was a thick coating of shit left on his, I mean her, dick and the girl cleaned it all off with her mouth.

So, yeah. That's what we're dealing with here.

Vice posted a story on the SA forums and its rise and fall with comments from Lowtax, Fragmaster, and other former admins.

TLDR:

Lowtax thought the good times were going to last forever and didn't plan for the future. He got tired of the place and left in 2005 beginning the downfall. Now he's just trying to hang on to whatever is left of them while he can still make a buck.

That's a pretty good article. As someone who has browsed SA since 2005 I still think there is a huge demand for a more moderated and more intelligent space for discussion. I think Rich is going about it the wrong way by trying too hard to sculpt and influence the culture of the boards. Don't ban people for their opinions, just ban them for being retarded or unfunny.

I never thought Lowtax was trying to sculpt the forums, personally. The issue was that for years (and even up to now), moderator selection was "who posts here the most?" which is the worst fucking way to pick moderators.

In 2002 the original Games forum moderators (fun fact: the Games forum was solely created to keep console war threads out of GBS) were chosen to be one Sony fanboy (qirex), one Nintendo fanboy (Hamburgler), and one Microsoft fanboy (I can't remember this one, I think it was Winson Paine?). Can you think of a worse way to choose moderators for a games forum? I sure as fuck can't.

Because Lowtax has a hands-off style (whether due to laziness or just a laissez faire attitude, ultimately it doesn't really matter why), the admins and moderators ended up sculpting the culture of the boards. Which sucks just as bad, but at least it has the small side-effect of causing certain boards to not be as bad as others.

Edit: That is mostly a good article though. I like the fact that they talk about how FYAD effectively became Weird Twitter. That's a thing a lot of people don't know, including a lot of the Weird Twitter people themselves.

I agree with this.

Who is this terrible tranny and what is its account here?

Oh god, I saw this dude in the TERF thread that is exclusively posted in by Troposphere and Picks and the rest of the trans-posters.

Someone said something and he came out with something like "Must suck to be a cis white male and waste all that privilege and be an unloved loser."

I wanted to call him out and say something like "Must suck to be a cis white male, waste all your privilege, trade all your failures in for a new life as a beautiful trans-woman, and STILL be an unloveable, condescending loser." But I was like, what's the point, you would just get banned in like 2 minutes, nobody would even attempt to reflect or care about it, and I'd get some sassy Troposphere ban message like "Must suck to be suck a humongous faggot that you get banned from the gayest forum on the internet! (/sneed no homophobia)!"

Do we know what kind of income he makes? It must be dwindling by now.

Do we know what kind of income he makes? It must be dwindling by now.

Goons have tried to estimate it for years, essentially they've all come to the general conclusion of "enough to buy box wine and ambien, but not a whole hell of a lot more".

Once you subtract hosting costs and staff costs and shit like that, it's probably enough for one person to live semi-comfortably.

He's referenced it in percentage terms but no-one knows what it was bringing in at its peak so that's useless for determining his current income. It's still sufficient that his wife doesn't need to work and that he doesn't need to supplement it with even part-time work, though. We know it has to be substantial because his child support order is substantial and he was paying alimony in addition to that until early this year.

Lowtax is a 40 year old man still sponging off mommy and daddy. They paid for him to go to Vanderbilt University for four years, despite Lowtax flunking out as a Sophomore. LT's dad owns a business big enough to have The Ultimate Warrior call him up and bitch at him, confusing him for Lowtax, and Mommytax is some sort of State attorney, according to Shmorky's ex.
