I can't empathize with how it must feel to scream into the void for that long and get nothing back for it.

I think it depends entirely on their motivations. For some reason lately YouTube keeps recommending me videos that have less than 10 views in among all the usual algorithmic vomit, and I'll sometimes click on them purely out of curiosity and it's just some dude with a fuzzy mic Let's Playing an obscure Genesis RPG and chatting away to themselves. On rarer occasions still I'll find someone doing a fucking camcorder LP in the year of our Lord, 2025.

Point is I think all that's kind of sweet, because they're clearly just doing it for fun as a hobby. With people like Jim and LKD it's an existential nightmare because you can tell they think they deserve so much more. Jim in particular is obviously so bitter about his fall from grace.

Oh yeah, I've been doing this recently too, and I think that's indisputably one of the cooler things YouTube has done in recent years. It both gives discoverability to people not at the top and also makes a little room for the stuff that's not hideously over-produced, and just like you I sincerely appreciate the comfort in the older-styled wabi-sabi presentation of someone just doing a little side thing for a hobby.

That said, that's by comparison to someone like LKD, who has been seriously, whole-hog, doing their best to do this as a full-time career for basically their entire adult life, aching to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the greats of their craft, and to show for it they have low triple-digit view counts. THAT'S the abject waking nightmare I'm describing.

It wouldn't have made a difference. Like all trannies LKD will never pass up the opportunity to play victim; it's literally the only reason he has any notoriety at all. His YouTube numbers make Jim look like Mr Beast.

So I went to check if this was a new thing and nope. I sorted the videos by most popular and #1 was an unboxing of the PS4 slim at 1 million. Okay, not bad, until you get to #2. It's an animated skit of a discussion they had in Podquisition, at 42k views. A big drop. Number three has a thumbnail of naked Liara from Mass Effect, so we can see why it got 39k views despite being 10 years old. All up, only 9 videos have more than 20k views.

This is Marzgurl levels of failure. Someone who was associated with a big name online and was constantly promoted by them and their contemporaries... and still flopped hard on their own. Actually, it's even worse because while Kaylyn's highest viewed video is just shy of 200k views, she at least more videos with higher views than Dale's. And Kaylyn only had an appearance in each Channel Awesome anniversary special. Dale co-hosted Podquisition at the height of Jim's popularity, and was on Co-Optional podcast, both of which have six-figure views, and got featured in one of the animated shorts... and flopped even harder.

At that point I'd just give up and not bother. Jim has to be giving a chunk of his patreon to Dale because I have no idea how he can afford anything on this meagre output.

I think the very most damning way I can corroborate this is the mere fact that we tend to have more discussion about LKD here in Jim's thread than in their own. They're such an accessory to Jim that it's often easier and more appropriate to discuss them here within Jim's scope.

True enough, LKD seems more conventionally autistic which means that his shenanigans are more conventionally off the wall, and I unfortunately also get from Jim that desolate Spoony vibe of "the creative spark is gone and the light has left my eyes" where you can kinda tell that on some level they think the best is no longer yet to come and so they don't really aspire to try to do anything interesting anymore.

Though, I suppose in Jim's case, rather than just giving up and consigning himself to irrelevance, he still puts in a token effort to churn out slop and keep the money engine going.

Well, boys, it's been an honor ignoring Jim Sterling in his own thread with all of you. I will remember you all fondly when he inevitably slows down on these videos we can't even be assed to watch anymore.

I mean hey if he stops uploading then maybe we'll finally find out if the sub losses have been from actual unsubbing or google deleting accounts. The only way he will ever get under 700k is if it is actually google doing it, even then if he's already quit would he even bother coming back for another seethefest? I did personally get an email telling me one of my old alt gmail accounts will be deleted for being 2 years inactive so honestly I think maybe the majority of the sub losses nowadays are just old accounts being removed. I don't think Jim's videos have enough algorithmic traction to get served to literally anyone, much less an old subscriber who would now unsub. Even after watching a fair few of his videos for this thread I still basically never get any show up in recommended.
