UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Are you the sort of person who if you are round someone's house and see the toilet roll hanging sheet facing wall-wards you'll take it upon yourself to take it out and place it back in with it facing outwards?

Because if so, welcome brother.
Wall-wards is actually the superior orientation for houses with small children or cats, as it is more resistant to said cat and/or urchin unspooling the whole thing through repeated downward swipes from the front.

This is real science.

So I have a schitzo theory its a false flag to distance from Palestine shit. The British Army should not have non-UK citizens in the military anyway. In the US non non-naturalised individuals cannot even work in the IRS. You can, per se, but you have to be exemplary.

This government is full of scandals, the Ukrainian rent boy stuff was weird too. I have lived near airbases and have a military family, and like Bog said, even the local community is watched. Even the MOD is turning on Starmer, too. I was reading how they are rebelling against him, too.

If you don't have the trust of your own military, you're fucked!

The Assisted Dying Bill has passed, but only narrowly:

314 votes in favour and 291 against.

It has to now go before the House of Lords before it receives Royal Assent.
It's probably the one I"m in the minority here. but in principle i support the right to die. In principle I'm for giving people a gracious exit if they want it.

If I'm ever diagnosed with Alzheimer's or dementia I'd want a dignified exit.

However, I'm also sure that our government is never doing anything for the sake of the people and their good, so I'm assuming this bill will be used in ways I wouldn't support. probably very horrible ways

The MOD is turning on Starmer... ooerr missus!

Joking aside, it's now inevitable that the end is coming and the odds that we will have a different coloured Government by the end of the year are growing stronger.

Spoke with a former Labour voting couple earlier and they're disgusted with how their party is behaving, saying that 'it's not what we voted for, what the hell are they playing at?'

This might be old news to everyone but holy shit the IQ of the BAME immigrants is lows. The Jews really do want to breed a moronic mutt race in our Isles. 85IQ average but that is boosted by the white people.

Eritrea 67 and that is the average. Fucking bunch of retarded sandniggers flooding Europe.

And people believe this is all happening organically

My thoughts exactly.

Even the normally super-woke John McDonnell MP has urged caution and said that it has to be used sparingly and sensibly.

Whilst I agree that dignity in death is sacred, I do not agree with somebody having the power to 'off' you because they want your money or because you said the wrong thing you have to be 'removed'.

The BBC are cock-a-hoop over this with Chris Mason insisting that this will become law.

My hope is that:

1) The House of Lords bounces it back and asks for greater clarity and tightening of the rules as to its use.

2) A future Reform UK Government nukes it.

We should use the money we're sending abroad to pioneer curing currently untreatable cancers, Parkinson's, Dementia and even curing blindness and deafness if possible - not sending people to the 'gas chambers' metaphorically speaking.

I think that Somalia had an average IQ of 59.

There was a Somali girl in my school - nice enough but thick as shit, she was kicked out after having a child underage at 13.

the white pill in this is that if white people can remember our racial solidarity it would be so easy to win. Every one cries about the muslims and how dangerous but we ruled over them in India.

the only issue is at the moment they have the state on their side. but once we have that turned around it will be easy.

we are dealing with retards.

Here is a White pill. When civil war comes, my poodle is more intelligent than these disgusting creatures. My home is going to look like Macaulay Culkin set up shop. They won't be able to get to me because the pile of bodies is blocking my door.

As for the bill Lords will bounce it, it shows too that without a whip involved, Starmer's majority, as predicted, is an illusion. The Welfare reform bill is going to be interesting because one of the lead whips resigned over it. She was on the rebel list, too meaning they're mobile.

Here is the list of forces against the government currently;
The OBR, they are openly mogging Reeves
The builders groups, laughing at Rayner and calling her retarded.
The business groups are too mogging Reeves, Starmer and Rayner
A 149+ group openly rebelling over various bills
MOD calling you inept
Cabinet rebelling over Hermer and telling him to fuck off (guy is a CCP spy btw)
The police force is calling your funding insufficient, and people are leaving in record numbers.
I am not even going to mention the migrant issue because the level of open hostility is present.

This is not after 10 months of rule. This is untenable; you cannot function as a government if every force is against you. Oh, and people openly hate civil servants, too.

It's not a surprise other than the majority only being 23 votes. After the abortion changes were voted in on Monday it was obvious that this too would also pass.

The problem is that this was Starmer's wish but he didn't have the balls to propose it as an official election pledge or put it in the King's Speech as he knew it would lose votes.

It will still take a few years before someone takes the death drink (as it must be self-administered, not doctor done like MAID). But if you're a private contractor then you will see that this will be a money maker for them, as the law will allow for their involvement. Assisted Dying, brought to you by Serco and others. Get in the death pod today!

Oh my, the BBC backtracking a bit from earlier?

Peers don't normally block government bills from becoming law - but assisted dying is a private members' bill, sponsored by a backbench Labour MP, Kim Leadbeater.

Lord Falconer, a long-time campaigner for assisted dying, is hoping to shepherd the bill through the Lords and says he is sure peers will "respect the views taken by the Commons on this".

"Ultimately it is for the Commons to decide on whether we should have an assisted dying law, and what its shape will be," he said yesterday.

"And we in the Lords will do what we do best, which is scrutinise the details, but leave the main decisions to the Commons."

Baroness Finlay, a palliative care doctor who is against the bill, told the BBC that "our role is not to rubber stamp whatever has happened in the Commons, particularly when we know that so many amendments put down in the Commons that would have improved the bill have gone undebated".

Also:

Dame Sarah Mullally says the proposed changes to the law pose a risk to "the most vulnerable people in our society" as she argues there is "mounting evidence" that the bill is "unworkable and unsafe".

"If enacted, this legislation would come into force amid serious shortfalls in adult social care, a postcode lottery in palliative care and well-documented pressures on the NHS, multiplying the potential risks to the most vulnerable," she says.

"We must oppose a law that puts the vulnerable at risk and instead work to improve funding and access to desperately needed palliative care services."

Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, who is against the assisted dying bill, says she's heard from "disabled people [who] are absolutely terrified" about the bill.

The former Paralympian says that while one side of the debate is "celebrating", she doesn't think today's vote is a "victory for anybody because by appearing to give choice to some people, we're ripping choice away from others".

Grey-Thompson tells the BBC that she wants to put forward amendments to the bill in the House of Lords to make it "as tight as possible" so that "there's not the ability to coerce [people into choosing assisted dying] or for people to slip through the net".

Meanwhile, Hospice UK, representing the hospice sector, said if the bill became law, it would have a “huge impact” and that it was vital that palliative care was transformed so people wouldn’t choose assisted death for the wrong reasons.

However, The Nuffield Trust think tank noted that assisted dying services would almost certainly be publicly funded and there were questions over how that would be achieved.

The sense from the health world is that the House of Lords consideration of the bill will be vital and after that, the government has much work to do.

Pro-Palestinian activists break into RAF Brize Norton

PL: There isn't a fucking chance that someone broke onto that base. I've worked around aircraft and those bases are locked down tighter than you can imagine. Rolling patrols 24/7 of the perimeters, all armed, including landrovers driving around. Not to mention, if you're on the flight-line and see some dodgy cunt you confront them, because if you don't, it's your arse in the shit.
That they can 'break onto' a base, spray paint a plane without anyone stopping them or questioning them, says to me that either the armed forces is fucked beyond what civvies can understand, or this is an inside job.
I believe it's an inside job because there would be no reason for a civvy police force, in this case Thames Valley, to assist in securing UK military bases, when they have their own arms of security; Military Police and RAF Regiment.
They've been able to break into places for the arms industry and they've filmed themselves doing it. Who every did this is going to get a proper prison sentence.

You get a lot of weidoes in the RAF who are graduates and only joined as a fast track into the airlines industry. If you ever see people who are ex-military sperging about the fallacy that is international law, 99% of the time they're ex-RAF, and 99% of the time they don't tell you what they did in the RAF because they want you to think they're a pilot when they just changed toilet rolls in the mess. I'd put a small side bet on some guy trying to bang some student swamp pussy letting protesters in and out.

Bets on this assisted dying bill ending very badly very quickly? Again, lolbertarian pinko liberal knobhead here who thinks if you want to off yourself it's not the business of the state but I also know very evil people exist who are plotting to have tax payers fund the deaths of their parents so they can get a house.

I was just thinking that. I've worked in some pretty secure places as a scientist; and the security doesn't mess around. You typically have on site mod-plod; single entrances, or maybe an extra one, but there's always ID checks. The fences are patrolled. Only way you could maybe get one person in, is banking on security not stop searching your vehicle and hiding them in like a suitcase in the boot or something.

Serco bid for and get the contract to run the Aktion NHS centres. When you are older, and you grow tired after years of abuse in a care home at the hands of cracker-hating spiteful Nigerian creatures you can check in for sweet release. The "mortal coil shuffling off technicians" will be Somalians on skilled worker visas, the last thing you see before you go blind and die in agony from a botched injection is Dr Kumar of the Mumbai Academy of Ayurvedic Cow-piss Therapy prying the rings from your fingers, then advancing with pliers in hand and an avaricious stare aimed at your gold tooth.

I agree. I'm for people having the right to be able to exit in a non-gruesome way, but I do not trust the cunts who run the show at the moment.

Make sure you get plenty of animal fats kiwis (butter is great) and cut down those carbs to stave off dementia (type III diabetes). Its no coincidence that its incidence has sky rocketed since they told us to go low fat, high carb.

I've admittedly had very few interactions with the RAF, but I can say that the reputation of the RAF Regiment among the other branches is especially poor and while inter-service banter is naturally very pointed, I've literally never seen a unit get more consistent flak for being filled with brain-dead retards that couldn't pass phase 1 at Catterick if their lives depended on it.

And the idea it could be a bit of an inside job is interesting, the RAF is the same service that was explicitly discriminating against White English men, so there's definitely a very "civil service" ethos going on there, definitely among the officer ranks at the very least.
