I still don't understand why he brought back the Rooster Teeth branding when it's been associated with dog shit for the past decade. Might as well have just come up with a new name that doesn't have any baggage attached to it. What made RT a worthwhile company in its early days was the cast and crew. Unless he plans on bringing some of them back, I expect this reboot to have a very short lifespan.

What gets me really going is that he didn't even have to take it. He could have just claimed credit for the good years and let it quietly expire, his reputation intact.

This is gonna ruin any rep he could have salvaged from the carcass/

I think he's hoping that he still has enough good will that if it's made clear it'll be RT done by the original creator without all the corporate bullshit that fucked them over, it'll bring back fans.

As you said, it depends on how much he understands about why RT fell so hard in recent years. It wasn't just the fact that they went too big too fast, it was how poorly their projects were. Lazer Team was fine, I guess. Lazer Team 2 was just dog shit. Forcing diversity hires who did not fit into Achievement Hunter killed it, do not bring them back. And definitely do not bring back Game Kids Trevor. Tell Michael he can have the job if he can get Ray back.

He should pull a "Falcon" like Gameranx and hide behind a persona and or - if in front of a camera - be in a fursuit 24/7 with a voice changer.

I hope Adam Kovic is taking notes as well.

I waited to post about it because I wanted to see if more info came out, but it seems to have flown so under the radar that not a single person in here has mentioned anything about it so.

I don’t know if it was posted in here, but I did not see anything about it back in May. They sent out a very long email to all of their Patreon subscribers, and also apparently to the people who used to be subscribed all the way back when it was redversusblue.com. Apparently they still had that mailing list.

We finally got a look at what the new rooster teeth will be for anybody that knows the history of the company. The website was actually a pretty big selling point early on so I believe the website in a reborn rooster teeth is also at least in theory a selling point.

I feel like this is kind of worthless, since the shut down anybody that wants videos has already archived them or saved them locally for themselves. A bigger issue is I have no idea what he could have access to as a lot of people have gone around and bought the archive of whatever their specific project is like the regulation podcast Geoff Gavin and some others they bought their FuckFace archive and their one FIRST show. That is also what happened with pretty much every other currently popular thing. So now it’s going to be a rebirth of the website but stripped down to include less and including less than an already free publicly available archive.

Burnie says that he wants people to experience the website for the first time themselves and that’s why he is asking people not to post any images of the website because he wants everyone to experience it for the first time when they go on and not through screenshots of a beta test from my very minimal attempts to find it nobody has uploaded even a screenshot.

It's a fucking website for a brand that died and was forced back to life for no reason, it's not a life changing experience or anything. It has less content than it used to have, what kind of experience are people going to have that's going to be good?

Maybe I’m reading too deeply into this, and I can only see the Patreon post that got leaked to other websites, so don’t take my word as gospel. I’m probably missing literal hundreds of post.

That said, the emphasis on Burnie AND ASHLEY is strong. It’s in a majority of the post I saw, every podcast, the email. It’s damn near like Burnie is buying a platform for himself but more so for Ashley. I’ve never disliked Ashley in anything I’ve ever seen her in, but she means nothing. if you’re a recent or even somewhat recent rooster teeth fan, then you remember Ashley as just kind of existing and if you’re one of the people from the old red versus blue mailing list, you have no fucking idea who this woman is and moreso you’re probably confused why you got this email to begin with. However despite all of that, this very much seems to me like Burnie making a misguided attempt at buying a platform his wife wanted. With that, I think he’s being extra careful and extra selective. He knows the Internet and he knows the Internet can be fucking brutal, but as of right now he’s literally only allowing this to be accessed by people who pay him and his wife and who are going to go “oh my god wow my old profile is still on here holy shit way to go Burns”.

I don’t think this is a business for Burnie. I think it’s basically a gift. I think if it loses some money so long as it stays a positive echo chamber for his wife and whoever else he includes it’ll be a success to him. You can kind of see this in all the different attempts that he’s made to have this be a return to roosterteeth, but also a really low-key return to roosterteeth where he doesn’t want it to grow. He’s basically trying to cultivate a very, very specific audience right now.

So to respond fully to you. I don’t think it’s about the experience that me or you have. I think he used that as an excuse, but I think what he’s actually trying to do is create like some special little club that will just tell him his wife and his friends that they’re doing good and continue paying them for very little while feeling like they’re getting a lot because Burnie is making it feel exclusive and nostalgic and all that bullshit. You can also look at the fact that he is currently like playing Halo with members like they used to do in like 2006.

Basically this entire return is something that a decade ago they would’ve laughed at other people for being a part of on the roosterteeth podcast if somebody else was doing it in this way.
