UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

men just always focus on men preying on boys and conceptualising it as gay (only happening to boys) because they don't care about it happening to girls. It's like the priest scandals also involved many girl victims, but you never hear about it, because men don't care and want to make it a male on male homosexuals only problem.
Could you stop? The grooming gangs also target young boys and use them the same way they do girls. No one talks about that either.

Child sexual abuse is wrong. Bias reporting of it doesn't help any one and trying to play the victim over it not mentioning one sex or another is political theater to virtue signal. Men are the ones talking about little girls being abused by pakis and ignoring the little boys being raped and tortured the same way. It doesn't mean they don't care about either group, it means that's the narrative of the story and if you stop the sexual abuse it stops it for boys and girls.

To make Jews a problem in the UK, you tend to have to make some contrivances and loose tethers of connection between groups, ideas and individuals in order for it to work, which isn't as convincing as pointing to the Muslim who is in a position of power and is pro-immigration
You could look up the people pushing mass immigration and see their ethnicity. It's not a loose tether of connections.

Matt Lucas is weird looking, but I don't know whether or not I'd classify him as perverted just based on his looks (it's everything else he does that sets off the alarms). David Walliams I can absolutely believe is as rapey cunt. Just look at him:

View attachment 7540453

He exudes a constant aura of smug rapery. You can tell he's constantly ogling small boys in his mind's eye just by the expression on his face.
Lucas looks weird cos he has alopecia. Poor bastard can't help it.

Walliams looks weird cos you absolutely know he's fucked kids at some point.

You aren't responsible for what idiots on social media do. Your free speech limits shouldn't be "Maybe Abdulah will hurt someone because of this post." We have to stop building culture around Twitter

Welcome to the farms, fren.

I agree with you that we shouldn't build culture around sites like Xitter. I'm with you on that. As a general rule I like freedom of expression too, so I worded my post carefully.
I do believe that some people (not you, not me) have some responsibility over what they post; big accounts with lots of easily led followers. Rogue Imams, for example, who use social media to extend their reach and call for more random stabbings should probably face the wall.

Or, let's pretend Peter Tatchell addresses his 100k following of super-poofs:
he tells them all to @ their friends and engage in a Million Man Wankoff outside a primary school... and then it happens. Mess everywhere.
I would argue that Peter Tatchell would be responsible for that happening, if he pushed for it.

My disagreement would not be "building a culture around Twitter",
nor would it be a hypothetical outside the realms of possibility. Tatchell is fucking disgusting.
Get me?

I also agree that Made In Wales does a nice digest of the news and normal people should be free to drop a spicy tweet; that's a TOS issue rather than a legal issue.
Stay cool. I think we're expecting a storm here tonight.

Goddamn it, at least we have Chris Lilley by technicality. The shit he made in the 2000s could not be done nowadays.

What you really need is a figure meant to address British problems via a uniquely British solution.
Personally, I think we need someone who can make the European people see it is our problem.

Edit: Oswald Mosley

Illustrator Aljoscha Quooss has made several tiktoks alleging that Matt Lucas sexually assaulted him, and that Matt Lucas and David Walliams have been working together to sexually assault many young men in the creative industries over the last 20 years.

There has been credible accusation thrown around about him for years like people working on projects with him telling younger men "Don't be caught alone with Walliams", he was a BBC darling for a while so they did the circle the waggons thing they do to all nonces with the right connections to burry the story an dropped him when he was getting too open about it, the BBC hasn't changed one iota since Savil and won't as a institution it's corrupt to it's very core and needs removing as a whole.

They have been working overtime protecting someone quite famous out of the old guard for some time now and when that blows up an it will in the next 12 months it will all come down, the person in question is renound internationally so they will not want to admit it till it all comes out, an when it does bye bye BBC.

The way you put it, I'm thinking either Attenborough (institutional weight), or god willing David Tenant, who had a media blitz about his "controversial secrets" last year, designed to bury any attempt to search up on him behind pages of "David Tenant has an extra toe!" Granted, Tenant is not old guard as such, but I nevertheless cannot wait to see his smug mug ground into the dirt for a bunch of reasons. Even though I thought he was great in Good Omens, he's still a smarmy cunt.

that would fit. fuck if it was that that would go global.

tbh, I hope it is his. I have some twat family member who worship the ground he walks on.

fuck, if he was doing it all round the world and the BBC covered it up...
Attinbrough being a nonce would be groundbreaking because of how he's curated his image over the past 30 years based on wildlife and ecosystem documentaries. Not only would it be an excellent cover as he could frame his accusers as global warming sceptics, but it'd allow him to do the very thing Saville did and have access to a lot of vulnerable adults to prey on.

But I get the feeling if it WAS him then the BBC is completely over, Saville and Edwards are bad enough, but when you hear the rumours of Matt Lucas, David Walliams, David Jason etc. not even including the possibility of a new person like Attinbrough then it's clear that there's a very big problem bubbling from within. Institutional paedophilia from a service that bullies you to pay for the TV licence and demands that you pay it if you're streaming Netflix.

Considering they're losing their anti-immigrant voters to Reform, any minority glazing might be a move to shore up what they've already got and deter minorities from flocking to independents like they did in the last GE by proving Labour aren't going to pivot to being anti-immigrant now, because this isn't going to bring the voters who went Reform back into the fold. I really hope the local elections they delayed to next year end up yielding worse results for them than if they were to just let them go ahead.

Any one who worked on Doctor Who during the RTD run is suspect. Christopher Ecescake holds a grudge for a good reason. If Tenant stepped into that environment and thought it was normal then he's on the grooming watch list too. He would be protected because Disney see Tumblr Doctor Who as a viable product and that means Tenant and Piper have to be used. If he got done for being a nonce and diddling his own kid (tranny) it would torpedo the Doctor Who revival they keep failing to make work while Disney pays

Farage is officially a race traitor. No mention of the future of Great Britain or our interest.

Not unexpected, but yes a little bit of a kick in the teeth.

To clarify, I'm on the side of peace - I don't want war in Ukraine, Gaza, Iran, Wales or anywhere... it's gay as fuck and a waste of time, money and human lives.

However, Farage will have to fall in to some form of lockstep with Trump if the 'special relationship' is to survive, and maybe an axis of UK, USA, Israel, Russia and China is better than Canada and all the Shittystans. Maybe this is a test ahead of a possible Farage/Trump run Western World?

I'll admit, I'm far from happy, but I can see the flip-side and do I think it will affect Reform UK's polling? No - I would even say we've now got the Jewish and even partly the Gay vote (I was contacted by one of the main central organisers for PRIDE who mentioned that the pro-Palestine protestors intend to attack any LGBTQWERTY who participates in PRIDE because CHASE Bank now sponsors them (and the Welsh Football Team) and no surprises... they're Jewish!)

My only hope is that this attack will be it - my fear is that idiots who back Palestine/Iran/the current thing will strike back and we'll see bomb threats etc. against individuals, banks, shopping centres, even media premises this Summer.

Give peace a chance.

It's absolutely riddled with noncery, but it's a hidden cadre within the institution, rather than the entire thing. They induct members into their secret groups with the promise of greater institutional power and wealth, and all the boipussy they desire, under the requirement of having to keep it all secret and protect one another from outsiders, lest they be outed and destroyed. The wider institution, parasitised as it is, acts in their interests without necessarily understanding its own actions, because they have pull within it.

Not unexpected, but yes a little bit of a kick in the teeth.
All Farage had to do was not frame it in terms of "protect israel". I'm not exactly shy of preferring to support Israel over the arabs in any given situation (frankly, the arabs deserve every dicking they get), but if I were in Farage's shoes I wouldn't have taken that sort of stance. Instead, I'd frame it purely in terms of national self-interest. Something like this: Iran cannot have access to nukes, because it would directly threaten our national security. The middle east and the wider western Islamic sphere have been the source of actual, existential threats to Great Britain for centuries, from slave raids in the 15th century, to terrorist attacks in the 21st, and it's imperative that we mitigate these threats however we can. Iran represents such a threat.

No need to glaze Israel or "stand by" any dubious "allies". It's purely about the protection and security of the British Isles and would fit neatly into a policy of focusing first on the needs of Great Britain over anything foreign. You could even, a-la Lowe, roll it into an urgent policy of expulsion of potential terrorists and their ideological compatriots, as well as a more general policy of repatriation of anyone from those areas as a matter of national security.

Oh fuck me, at first glance I thought she was holding a giant, realistic dong. Thumbnails can do strange things.
