Why would Berdly say such a thing?

The divorce break-down that caused the kids to watch more TV to escape the awkward situation was a bit too realistic for comfort.

The trick is to keep attacking, as defending doesn't do much funnily enough.
Would you believe me if I told you Gerson is equally impressed by Susie using her healing magic?

yeah protip for all: the gerson fight is the best way to grind to improve susies heal. every time you use it it permanently costs less tp and heals for more up to some limit i think. you can lose to gerson any number of times while keeping the heal upgrade. its also the only way you can heal in the fight and susie takes reduced damage when shes low hp so even the 40 or whatever hp it heals makes a massive difference

Yeah the secret to that one is just spamming heal. Anything that makes gerson emit star particles progresses the fight. I got through that one pretty fast guessing the little segment after the Jackenstein fight was the clue to how to deal with it.

Didn't realize it scaled with usages though. I wonder if that's supposed to be a Mario RPG callout, the weakest special attack in that game has that mechanic and is notorious for doing apocalyptic amounts of damage by endgame if you use it as often as possible every fight.

Does the scaling work as soon as she can cast heal? I remember there being a couple spots early on where she uses it in a cutscene and it doesn't work, it'd be pretty Toby-like to have alternate stuff there if heal was buffed enough.

E: The bootleg cycle is starting up for ch3/4.

As soon as she knows how to heal.

i wouldn't be surprised if Ch 5 or 6 has Susie require to heal someone.

Would fit in with Toby to have different chapter outcomes depending on how strong Susie's heal is.

The Gerson fight actually goes on slightly longer and he has an extra line or two of dialogue if you don't attack. This may just be from the way the scripting goes though.
(This part is wrong, he says it before his last attack is triggered no matter what. Gerson has a "impress" stat that increments either by attacking him, or surviving past certain turn milestones from healing or not being hit. Reaching the required amount triggers his last attack and the line about the white pen. Turn 21 is the absolute max you can last before he says the line and ends the fight, even if you did nothing)
He says something about Susie having the "White Pen of Hope" and Susie claims that Kris equips those. Which may imply that Susie should be using swords, because the light world counterpart of Kris' weapons are writing implements. Also notable that Ralsei says that Susie should be wearing ribbons, which Kris can also equip.

I was also thinking of something interesting about the sanctuary dark worlds. I wonder if the difference is because Susie created a dark world based on the church without knowing anything about religion so that's why everything is off and in the wrong spot. It would reason that the person that did create the dark world must be pretty familiar with it to have it turn out the way it did, it seems like even bringing someone back ala Gerson must require a good amount of knowledge of what they were like. Even Susie attempting to recreate Gerson caused him to only come back as a statue that attacks them. I heard someone mention that It could be because Susie has a secret worry that Gerson will also turn his back on her like many adults have done before. It makes it all the more heartbreaking the way she reacts when she sees Toriel with Sans as well. I wonder if that's part of Susie's arc, learning that people you look up to can't be infallible and that's not always a bad thing. She learns you don't have to be perfect at everything because nobody is, even if it looks like it. Perspective is referenced a lot, so I wouldn't be surprised if her character development has something to do with seeing the good in people instead of always assuming the worst, which is something she is shown to do.

Update he deleted only two of them, but ONLY two. Which is even more insane.Because that means he compartmentalizes which is bad no no art and which is A-OK

I saw someone call the bootleg aesthetic of Tenna and Spamton "Analogue Humor" and that got a good chuckle out of me. Toby is definitely one of the best at capturing the feeling of that late 90s/early 2000s bootleg jank. "So bad it's good" is a hard line to skirt intentionally.

That reminds me, when Gerson explains chapter 4, he says that the heroes get a terrible weapon. This could play into that, Susie isn't supposed to be using axes/hammers, so it's a terrible weapon for her.

could this refer to the twisted sword? you have to ask malius to make it for you by combining the thorn ring and the pure crystal (currently unobtainable but speculated that seam can purify 5 shadow crystals to make it)
which if true would suggest that to get the "true ending" which follows the prophecy you have to beat the secret bosses. and also start and then abort snowgrave to get the ring although they might introduce a different way to get it later.

Gerson says that when he's explaining chapter 4 and regardless if you got the thorn ring or not. So there's a chance, but I doubt it.

Damn dude that would be exactly along the lines of the kinda shit Toby would pull. Personally I think the prophecy already happened and the "weapon" isn't explicitly said to be the axe he's giving at that moment. My theory is all the shit with Dess, Asriel, Kris, and Noel were what the original prophecy was, which ends poorly and is what everyone is being all cagey about. There was probably some dark world related tragedy from the first adventure they had that was the real prophecy. This is just everything that happened afterwards and the people trying to figure out how to cope. That's why Kris has a save file when you start a new game and there's references to things happening before the events of the game involving dark worlds that we haven't seen yet.

I bet there's some narrative about using equipment outside of what you're supposed to use and what they use already doesn't fit what they were initially supposed to wear. Susie can use heal magic and in the ending of Chapter 1 where you don't spare enemies, Susie also uses Ralsei's lullaby spell to put king to sleep. It kind of implies that she was supposed to be in the role that Ralsei is in, but for some reason Ralsei doesn't want her to. Ralsei also is shown to have massive power because he annihilates the statue that Susie and Kris couldn't even scratch. Also in my Weird Route/Violent save I had him geared for attacking and he can do almost as much damage as Kris.

ok my fellow ass gore chads i dunno how i couldve missed this but there is some absolutely MASSIVE asgore plot setup hidden in chapter 4 at noelles house. when people tell you that chapter 5 is all but guaranteed to be about him this is why.
video contains spoilers, even the thumbnail, so im just posting a link:

the black shard could very well be carols, not his, but he knows what it is. they both know about the knight as expected. as a cop asgore tried to [prevent dess from becoming the knight / getting lost in a dark world / the shelter] but failed and no one believed his story about what happened, not even his wife, which is very on brand for toriel. even in undertale she would give him shit for sticking his head in the sand while shes doing the exact same thing.

sad to see him coping about the broken family because that shit is never going to go back to how it used to be, its unfixable. im very curious to see what kris will do and how the weird route ties into all this

>Works with Vinny Vinesauce and Jabroni mike....
Oh no.

The strange thing is that he actually DID delete two pieces, but not all of them. Which incidentally gives us a look into his twisted mindset of what he considers naughty no no bad art and what's Aaaalright (specifically he deleted the pointer and wedgie one)

I'm theorizing that the black shards are just what people are calling the Katanas. There's a katana by Carol's conspiracy board, there's one in the kitchen, and the knight has one.
