the problem is its NOT cheap, for the same price you can get decent Holosun or Sig dots or even an aimpoint patrol on discount.
I've got a problem with not explaining my offhanded insults, I blame people who don't bother reading-
It's cheaply manufactured and priced competitively to basically recreate the Glock effect. Price it high and it's assumed people will take it seriously because in the world of optics even high dollar equipment fails(the EOTech is famous for working with busted glass, for example, which makes it stand out) and sometimes underdeliver but with enough positive reviews from weekend warriors and influencers it is held up as a standard. Not pointing fingers. The king of affordability is currently Vortex because the optics work and the next best in competition, pricewise, are legacy optics and raped brands from the latter half of the 20th century which is not a high bar.

You can put out an optic that works and the layman will have no idea what he's looking at because most people still believe it's witchcraft.

Ian has to be a bit of a fence sitter to get the access he does, but what I've never understood on the "unhinged leftist" argument is that from what we can see of his politics he's probably a neo-con who seems to be on the "the whole world should be surface level diverse but driven by western values and everyone being vaguely nice in an undefined way" bandwagon.

I get that doesn't make him /ourguy/ but its also pretty far from being a secret communis

The “Ian is a secret radical leftists” thing I think started because of his association with Karl, but obviously they are no longer on good terms and I’ve never liked the idea that you share someone’s politics just by being friends with them. I think Ian is overall centrist albeit a bit right leaning. It’d explain his support for Ukraine and why he was able to get along with Karl for so long.
