That Metal Thread

So my band played a gig last night, it was a pretty good turnout and the bands were great. Without power leveling too much, one of the bands liked our shit and said we sound kinda like Machine head but more thrash. It was more of a hardcore bill, but anyway this one band hit the crowd with "fuck blonald Blumf!" and "Fuck Ice" etc. Good music but I really hate a lot of these cringy-ass people in this scene sometimes. I was talking to my bassist and we were joking how funny it would be lean into the lefty schtick and say shit like: "kill the Boer" or " Free Palestine and gas the Jews!" Anyone else have experience or dealt with something similar?
I always thought it would be cool if a Jewish black metal band did songs about eating gentile babies and bathing in their blood to appease YHWH and stuff

Faggy politics being forced into absolutely everything. I'm sick of hearing "x has always been political!" by obnoxious cunts that are using it as an excuse to sperg and gatekeep to people that just want to listen to music. They don't know shit about the history of whatever subculture they're vulturing, just that because their minds think about politics 24/7 it means that everyone else has to as well
Pic is very fitting just replace vidya with metal
muh all art.webp
Like I don't care if they hate Drumpf, I don't care if they say it, but when they start saying shit like "you can't be a metalhead if *long list of rules*" then I'm going to call them a faggot retard

I don't care about politics in music I listen to. I like Rage Against The Machine and I'm well aware that they're commies. It doesn't stop me from enjoying their music. I know there's some niche black metal bands with Nazi views and that doesn't faze me, either. I don't think I've ever experienced preachy behavior from musicians at metal gigs.

From concerts and discussions I've had IRL and online, I've noticed those who listen to and play "extreme" music tend to be left - leaning to leftists most of the time. Occasionally you'll get some RW people, but a lot of times it's the opposite.

TAX: Another day, another round of BM seething, between the album cover and it supposedly using AI. It seems too coherent to be AI, but what do you guys think?

I took a look at the full size image on their Bandcamp and I'd say that some of the edges on his face look like they have a bit too much contrast and are too rounded in an unnatural way. It's hard to tell, but in my opinion there's an 80% chance it's AI.

I live in metal hipster central and occasionally have people cry about my Peste Noire and Black Magick SS patches.

My vest is 15 years old at this point and I was turned on to Peste Noire by people who would now absolutely refuse to admit they ever listened to such an evil nazi band. I had a big group of online metal threads and we all used to listen to and recommend anything good no matter the politics. Nobody gave a fuck about if a band was "sus" or not. Listening to it didn't mean you endorsed their politics. But then 2016 happened and everyone suddenly pretends that they never liked problematic bands and listening to music is an inherently political act and silence is violence. Current year fucking sucks. I want to go back to when people kept their politics to themselves.

Shame about the cover sperging because there's some interesting stuff going on musically in that album.

A couple years back one of the bands at a show did a fucking welcome to country ceremony at the start of their set, which if you don't know here in Australia is basically an acknowledgement of the Aboriginal tribe that had settled the land before they got totally pwned by colonialists. It's not even counter-cultural to do that shit, the government just arbitrarily decided to start doing this lame, gay ritual at every large public gathering of people they host and a bunch of institutions followed. I can't even go to my local theatre to watch my sibling's school play without hearing "We acknowledge the Flabbababbawabbajabbanoongah tribe as the original custodians of this land".

I think they do this in New Zealand, too. Supposedly they make the PM do the haka every time he speaks in public or something.

Ages ago I came across this gaming channel who opened his videos like this:

Now that makes slightly more sense. As you might expect the guy was extremely gay.

Dropping some of the metal tracks that have floated my boat over the last year or two.
I became interested in folk metal a few years ago and this led me into ‘indigenous metal’ made by First Nations people. Interesting if you’re after something different.

Alien Weaponry- ‘Kai Tangata’ (New Zealand Maori)

Southeast Desert Metal- ‘Rainmaker’ (Aus Aboriginal)

Jeremy Whiskey- ‘Mirrpanpa/Anger’ (Aus Aboriginal, instrumental)

Shepherd’s Reign- ‘Le Manu’ (Samoan)

Blackbraid- ‘The Spirits Return’ (Native American)

Blackbraid are atrocious faggot music.
Honestly this metal thread is abysmal in general. See better metal posted in the 'what are you listening to right now' thread.
That’s what I love about the metal scene, all the TROO KVLT crusaders getting personally assblasted that other people like things they don’t.
Off you go the better thread then, headbanger.
