The federal government, in particular the executive branch, is the explicit entity of foreign affairs and Trump/Vance/Rubio talking to Israel or Russia or the UK is perfectly within their job description.

There is a former councilor for my city who spends his free time sperging on local Facebook groups about Trump and Elon Musk. He got replaced by a young Republican woman who ran on supporting local businesses after COVID. Some of these people are truly insane.
