It's impossible to look worse than Trump already does. His administration so far reminds me of the monarch of a dying empire desperately trying to stop the decline but failing miserably. Like a modern day Majorian or Abdulmecid.

I mean it's still up in the air and shit (Aljazeera are corroborating a lack of confirmation from either Israel or Iran) but I think many aligned with Iran would be rather vexed that Iran got punched first, received a bloody nose, and pretty much had only impotent retorts. It just looks bad.

Given how decimated the regime is at this point, I’m not willing to rule out that part of it has gotten a ceasefire proposal, but they’re so busy running around like headless chickens that a huge swathe doesn’t know about it.
Not the most likely explanation IMO, but I don’t think it’s outside of the cards. Hell, I’m not willing to rule out a “Rudolf Hess flying to Scotland” type situation either.
