Hilarious how the last artist made a fan sibling for Frye and it's also lighter than Frye is.


Granted, no one sane would bat an eye because it's still fairly similar to Frye. But Splatoon fans have always been huge into the SJW side of things. After all, these are the same people that grasped at straws seven years ago (and did so blatantly by picking a color from a shaded area to try and prove a point).

I don't know about these people, but I think it's because of the skin tone mixing with the other colors properly due to the aesthetic of the art style. You know, they use lighter, more pastel colors so the darker skin tone could cause a dissonance. But, going by lefty logic, wouldn't that be more racist and objectifying - lightening or darkening skin tones only because it's aesthetically-pleasing and not because you truly care about the character's design, ethnicity, or whatever?

They're idiots who don't know shit about color theory. East-Asian artists generally pay much more attention to interesting color variations than having everything conform to the model. They tend to paint lighter skinned characters because (shocker!) they tend to be pale themselves.



A lot of them paint darker skinned characters too, of course, but I imagine Twitter weebs would have an issue with them not drawing physiognomy the way they'd want them to.

The problem is a lot of black (also white) weebs never get past charts like this. People talking down to them and saying "there's only one way to do it".



If they are so hung up on characters being on-model I know who I'm drawing next.

I have seen people "fixing" art where its clearly in pastel colors. they darken the skin and it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Reminds me of people saying Bea from pokemon Sword and Shield was white washed in a short.

They often used shots from her gym battle where she's clearly being lit from behind and taking colors from the shaded areas,

And mostly used screenshots from parts of the short where she's in direct sunlight, where her entire color scheme is noticeably lighter (hair, the black parts of her clothes. ) Compared to a shot from more neutral lighting.

(this is from the main anime but you get my point.)
Plus, She's clearly not supposed to be black, just darker in tone.
