Mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani wants to spend $65 million in taxpayer funds on transgender treatment — including for minors — if he’s elected to lead New York City.

The Queens assemblyman, who is locked in a close race with former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in Tuesday’s Democratic primary, says on his campaign website that the money would be funneled to public providers to help transgender New Yorkers.

About $57 million would be allotted for public hospitals, community clinics, federally qualified health centers and nonprofits with another $8 million for more expanded services, the website states.

The surging Democratic socialist contender first unveiled his plan to “deliver care, opportunity, and protection for LGBTQIA+ New Yorkers” last month following a Trans Community Town Hall with advocates.

The New York Sun, which reported on the spending plan Sunday, noted it was unclear whether the proposal would pay for just medication, or gender transition surgery as well.

Mamdani defended the spending plan as necessary, citing how private Big Apple hospitals had stopped providing gender-affirming care for minors under threats from the Trump administration earlier this year.

“LGBTQIA+ New Yorkers are under attack by the Trump administration and Zohran is going to stand up for them as Mayor,” a campaign spokesperson said in a statement to The Post on Monday.

“That means ensuring both public and private institutions follow our state constitution and human rights laws, protecting gender-affirming care, and creating the Office of LGBTQIA+ Affairs at City Hall.”

President Trump signed an executive order aimed at restricting gender transition procedures for patients younger than 19, but that measure has been blocked by a judge for now.

Trans care for youth has been a controversial issue, with critics arguing children and teens are too young to move ahead with something so permanent while supporters believe the treatment helps handle gender dysphonia that could lead to mental health problems.

Mamdani, 33, also vowed to go after private medical institutions that continue to deny trans youth care, stating he would work with state Attorney General Letitia James and local district attorneys in the five boroughs to “investigate and hold public hearings on hospitals that deny trans youth their rightful healthcare and hold them accountable to the law.”

Providing trans care to city youth is in line with the state constitution and city laws, according to Mamdani’s campaign.

NYU Langone was one high-profile hospital to pause its gender-affirming care for youth when Trump initially threatened to pull federal funding from medical centers treating minors, leading to outrage from liberal officials.

It’s unclear what the status of trans care is for minors at NYU Langone. An email to the hospital was not immediately returned Monday.

New York-Presbyterian, another hospital that reportedly pulled references to trans youth care months ago, told The Post it continues to work through the “evolving situation” to comply with state and federal laws.

“As always, our priority is to serve all our patients in a compassionate and responsible way,” a hospital spokesperson said.

A source close to the hospital claimed to the New York Sun its pediatric gender program was still maintaining gender treatment for current patients under 19, but only accepting new patients in that age range for behavioral health care.

Mamdani’s trans spending proposal is among a hodgepodge of expensive services he wants to enact as mayor.

He has pushed for city-run food stores that would cost about $60 million, as well as free buses ($900 million) and child care (at least $5 billion).

The lefty lawmaker also wants to create a new department of public safety that would cost around $450 million.

He claims the pricey endeavors would be paid for by spiking corporate taxes from 7.25% to a steep 11.5% and placing a 2% flat tax on the wealthy.

That plan would require the approval of the state Legislature and Gov. Kathy Hochul, who has vowed not to raise taxes — warning that doing so would help fuel an exodus of New Yorkers to states such as Florida.

The insistence on doubling down on underage troonery is the biggest unforced error in politics right now, to the point that it's almost more plausible everyone involved likes diddling kids than they are really that clueless or nakedly corrupt.

A politician out for their own skin or votes would just say they support gender-affirming care for 18+, respect pronouns for minors, and boom! Moderates are mollified, parents are less outraged, the wind goes straight out of the opposition's sails and they can go back to selling drugs to autistic manchildren, homos deep in denial, and female sexual abuse victims. Plastic surgeons get to mutilate-twenty somethings instead of teen-somethings. They might even get away with men in women's sports, though that'd still be contentious.

What's to gain from pushing gender nonsense from the 20 stance of an 80/20 issue? Minors don't vote. Gay people have compromised with worse. Are they that terrified that if they don't get the kids pumped full of hormones young they might realize it was a phase as part of puberty and not join a scene where inside pressure keeps them as loyal Democrats?

Because they grew up in a different reality from yours. They were thaught garbage and they were rewarded for spewing it to others.

Takes a while to undo brainwashing at such a large scale. They will drop the tranny nonsense eventually, though.

NYC has rank choice voting.
If Fredo can't knock him out the 1st round then he is going to win.
This is the first NYC election in a while in to have high profile independents on the ballot. Whoever wins will be running against incumbent Eric Adams plus Cuomo and Jim Walden and the Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa. That's a four way split on the ballot for the Democrats.

This is going to be a wild ride no matter what.

Well no matter what Cuomo will be on the ballet. The question is only going to be will he be running as the Democrat or the "Fight and Deliver" candidate . He hedged his bets by forming a 3rd party already.
