You are thinking about this like someone on the Internet who knows all the details of the story. Think about it from the Law's perspective. You have a guy who plead guilty to revenge pornography, who has a previous conviction (plead guilty) to harassment against a (different) woman, and now you have the (current) victim showing up to court to cry about how evil Aaron is. The Judge looks at this, realizes she doesn't want to be in the courtroom all day with an entire parade of people in her courtroom documenting this, and thinks to herself "we here in Stearns county are very pro women, and want to send a message that revenge pornography, and harasment against women is not ok". That is how you get a case seemingly blown way out of proportion to what ACTUALLY happened, because in this case, what ACTUALLY happened isn't that relevant, because Aaron plead guilty. He should have just fought it in court the whole way.
