The reason artists do this because it's always a matter of damned if you do, damned if you don't. If you stick to characters with similar ethnicities to you, you're racist, even if it's out of a respect for The Of Coloreds to represent their own culture. If you do draw dark skinned characters, you'll be relentlessly nitpicked like Pups does about how "you only did that because it's a commission" "you didn't draw them the right shade of brown," or even "you only like that character because they're attractive, you're fetishizing them" when it comes to fandom characters like Jayce or Mel from Arcane. (Jayce isn't black, but I still see nitpicking over how "only attractive characters are popular"... No shit?) If you're white and have too many black OCs, it's creepy and fetishizing. If you draw different races, and become popular for being diverse, that's taking attention way from Artists Of Color even though you're doing what you tell them.
I really don't blame artists for playing it safe, appeasing woke standards is walking on eggshells only to get screamed at and cancelled anyway. She constantly talks about how she loves to "make her own representation," why is it wrong when other people do that? Why does it matter if someone draws European or Asian characters, as long as there are other artists drawing other races? Let people speak for themselves.
