Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

Reminds me of when Skill Up trashed Stalker 2 for being slow and boring — when in reality, the guy looted a dozen AK-47s, was over-encumbered the whole time, and moved like a dying turtle.

Retard never figured out that lugging around 40 pounds of scrap metal might just slow you down a tiny bit.
I like Stalker but it can be slow and boring. You do a lot of walking between locations with not much going on.

I despite Lego games. Suboptimal pacing with the multiple characters and specific interactions locked to specific characters is annoying as hell.
I'm always annoyed that some of the most comprehensive games for any given series are fucking lego games. Star Wars, LOTR, Marvel. All that effort could've been put towards a real game

The only good Lego games I could think of would be Lego Rock Band and Lego City Undercover, only because they derive from the tried and true formula.

I find the "Fart MIDIs" of the 32X port of DOOM preferable to whatever they had going on in DOOM 64.

Classicvanias are better than Metroidvanias.

Same thing happened with Too Human on the Xbox 360. Not a perfect game but a hidden gem if you weren't a club-handed spastic.

Reviewers knocked points off because they couldn't get used to the twin stick design, and IGn knocked points off because you could wear mis-matching armour and you could see it during a cut-scene. Yes, really. They all want shooting.

Could you give some examples? What are the top 3 games in each genre on the GBA?
I'm not going to break it down by genre, but here are ten games I feel can stand up pretty well against ten games for any other system:

A Link to the Past
Metroid Zero Mission
Metroid Fusion
Final Fantasy VI
Wario Land 4
Super Mario World
Super Mario Bros 3
Pokemon Leaf Green/Fire Red
Advance Wars
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow

Far from an exhaustive list, but the reason I think the library is so good is because you get a bunch of SNES ports on top of original games that came out for the system.

It's called dark ambient. I put this soundtrack on when I'm reading or doing something else that requires attention. It is very weird, I'll give you that.

4 SNES ports.
1 remake

They aren't bad games but you look like a Nintendo fanboy when your top 10 list is 5 games that started on other systems and play better with the extra buttons. It's 6 platformers, 2 JRPGs, 1 strategy game and 1 action RPG. There isn't much variety on offer here. Good games but the best system ever would have a mix of top titles because it's so good across genres and publishers. Not almost all Nintendo games.

It's going to be highly subjective. For example, Xbox 360 has a huge library of highly rated shooters, but I'm not a fan of shooters, so I wouldn't personally consider it to have the best library. What system do you feel has the best library?

The PS2 is a contender, it has good games in every genre and a lot of retro packages so you get your 2d platformers and arcade games from the past generations.

If we used your list then the 3DS and Switch would be since they have all those same ports but bigger screen.

I don't think I'd count games that are emulated as opposed to native ports, personally. That's opening a whole can of worms.

Does it matter? If you put the cartridge in the machine and it loads up Mario world or you click the button and it loads up an emulated Mario world what's the difference? As long as it doesn't have any issues like frame drops then it's the same experience. Sonic 1 on the GBA is a port and it's unplayable and you would always pick to emulate instead of play that version.

To me I don't care how a game runs as long as it runs well. I don't look at Sonic gems collection and think it's less of a game than Ratchet and Clank. As long as the game works I don't care about anything beneath the surface.

I'm not saying that it's not good to have the option to play them. I just think for the sake of discussion allowing emulation and backwards compatibility just makes it too difficult to point at a library and say, "I like that one the best." I think mine would maybe be 3DS primarily due to the good exclusives that are difficult to emulate, the virtual console library and the original DS library being playable, but it's hard to nail something down for sure.

Plus a small collection of GBA games too.
