Poor Shenna. it seems the game has it out for her, both in story and gameplay.
What is wrong with Shenna exactly? well, she is a summoner for one. every time she goes overlimit, Shenna can summon spirts with different elements that dose damage to the enemy and buff her allies. Sounds good right? WRONG! In TOS, the only way to reach overlimit is getting hit by the enemy and the limit happens at random. Why focus on summoning when its RNG lottery?
What else can Shenna do? Her weapon (magic cards) are fucking dog shit with the worst melee damage output compared to everyone else's weapons (well, better then Genis and Raine but you not using them for melee dmg are you?). "But her cards have elemental damage so you can focus on enemy weaknesses!" I guess? But it comes a point where enemies stop being weak to elements and the weapons themselves cant be upgraded to be any stronger (some character's get accesses to elemental weapons that are stronger then hers). Her combos are fucking pathetic. No matter what you do, they always have to end with "pyro seal" or whatever its called and pyro seal knocks enemies back when used. that's not something you dont want to do in most cases. I guess you could use "cyclone seal" but that has a charge time and enemies can break out of it or sometimes not outright work. "But Shenna can buff her team!" Use Raine. She can buff AND heal! "She can give her allies elemental buffs." Buffs that only last a few seconds and time that could be used doing damage. "She can debuff enemies!" Again, only last for a few seconds.
So what the fuck is she even good for!? Well, she is fast. The fastest party member in fact. to bad speed doesn't mean anything since the game still moves in 2D. Free run didn't exist until Abyss. If i had to give Shenna one W, is she is pretty good during temple runs. All enemies are weak to a certain element and its still during mid game so her dps is not laughable yet.
Maybe i should do a shenna run at some point, using her instead of Lloyd just to see how it feels.
