he went to war against austria and germany, over fucking serbia of all places lol
the result was that he had most of his army destroyed by the germans and he was losing huge swathes of territory to the advancing german armies
this was extremely demoralizing to the russian people, it was a huge blow to his legitimacy and credibility as a ruler, his authority crumbled until eventually he had so little support left in the capital that he had to abdicate.
the same thing happened to the german emperor a year later: military defeat eroded his support among the people to the point where he had to give up the throne. unlike nicholas, wilhelm had the opportunity to flee his country and go into exile, so he avoided getting murdered.

Mostly right except Kaiser lost basically all power by 1917. When Reichstag voted for peace, military just ignored it. In 1917-1918 germany was a military dictatorship and kaiser was a puppet and everyone saw that.

Nicholas lost the support of the the other nobles; his ditzy german wife was infatuated with a weirdo who said he could cure the heir apparent's hemophilia and she convinced her cuck husband to let him make military decisions which of course failed spectacularly.

The bald commie was just the latest in a long line of commies looking to overthrow the czar, he simply had a lot of more money than the rest (courtesy of Germany).
