I don't think this is true at all. All the research I've looked into suggests or says outright that legalizing sex work would make sex work safer. I have yet to meet a sex worker that disagreed, and no, I'm not counting middle class women with OnlyFans as "sex workers" for these purposes. Conversely, making it illegal doesn't make it go away, it just makes it worse for everybody involved. Crucially it enlarges, if not creates, a market for trafficking. I'm pretty strongly in favour of a harm reduction outlook regarding sex work at this point. Anyway I'm not tryna derail the thread.
