The vast majority of people who get tats look uglier for it. Especially women and especially hot women. A hot woman with a tat is 9/10 times like graffiti on a rembrandt. Whenever I see it I just get so sad that something/someone so beautiful defaced themselves and on top of that they don't realize it.
What really makes it much worse is most people who get tats don't take any care that it integrates artistically with their body or with the rest of the tats that they already have. There has not only been an explosion in the popularity of tasteless random tats there has been an explosion of getting multiple random tats which make people look especially weird.
Don't care that you got it for your beloved nana or whatever. Your nana is probably cringing that you put so little effort into remembering her.
9/10 times the act of getting a tat exposes a person as a not too bright consoomerist follower who just jumps on to cultural bandwagons without putting much thought into the wisdom of graffitiing up their body. Thus the rising popularity of tats point to the general degradation of our society.
Admittedly there are good tats and good reasons to get tats. Ie maybe there is some exotic truly beautiful pattern with actual cultural significance that integrates well with your particular bodytype and you can get a real master who does it properly and you don't ruin it with other clashing tats later on. Or for some reason you need to remember someone a certain way with a nice discreet tasteful mark. And there are some people who can pull off a tat in a way that improves their appearance but this type of person and the compatible tats are much rarer than people want to admit.
