So this woman got a wikipedia page in both pt and en

The "Personality and abilities" section header is extremely suspicious. That's the kind of shit you see on some gay wiki about anime character powerlevels.

Out of curiosity, I wanted to see what was responsible for the creation of that page. I had to go back further than I thought, all the way back to 2007.

Meet "Jim♥Burton." (sockpuppet of Lingofascist)

Alexa read me the wikipedia article on woodchippers.webp

Yep.
Basically, historian Mário Maestri (who is a marxist, so its a broken clock situation) was unable to find anything about the supposed mariage or children, even after going through all databases writen by the portuguese about Palmares.

Luiz Mott only stated what has long been known. That is, there is no “documentary evidence” of the existence of Dandara and her children. Not a shred. The existing Palmarina documentation in Brazil and Portugal has been scoured by countless researchers. The same has yet to be done with the Dutch archives. I was even curious about Palmares in the Overseas Archives when I went there, looking for records on Fernão de Oliveira [1507-1581], the first grammarian of the Portuguese language and a pioneer of anti-slavery in Portugal. [MAESTRI, 2022.] And we have exhaustive compilations of archival documentation from Palmarina. [ENNES, 1938.] In short. As proposed, to this day no one has found any reference to Dandara or any other wife - or wives - of the last military commander of Palmares.
I don't remember which year, a historian friend of mine, who is now a national reference on palmarine studies, asked me if I knew anything about the origin of Zumbi's biographical data, presented by Décio Freitas, who refused to explain its origin. The young historian, whom I had met as a student at UFRJ, alerted me to Freitas' possible interest in spicing up the new edition. I wasn't surprised. Ever since the presentation of the first edition of Palmares, when describing the limits and poverty of the sources, the author referred to “gaps” that could ‘never’ be “filled”. According to him, this would oblige the historian to “mobilize the imagination.” [FREITAS, 1984:114] Which is true, as long as the author notes that these are his suppositions and hypotheses.

In the 1981 edition, Décio proposed, among other detailed achievements, a bibliography of Zumbi, which he entitled “From choirboy to guerrilla”. In it, he reports that in 1654-5, a Luso-Brazilian expedition captured a baby in a quilombo, who was handed over to a priest named Antônio Melo, from Porto Calvo, who taught him to read and write in Portuguese and Latin! The child had been baptized with the name Francisco," said Father Antônio Melo in a letter. The good priest had said that the boy had a unique intelligence, superior to what was common, even among whites. At the age of ten, he became a “choirboy”. When he was about fifteen, he fled to the Palmares and later became their last military chief. But he wasn't ungrateful, as he had visited his preceptor three times to help him economically! [FREITAS, 1984: 116-7] This information, Décio claimed to have obtained in letters from the parish priest, which he never showed to anyone. Continuing down this road, in 1986, in his book Brasil inconcluso, he proposed the existence of a compilation of Palmarian laws, possibly written by Zumbi, which he considered to have been Brazil's first constitution! [FREITAS, 1986: 13; SILVA, 2016.]

The only argument in favor of "this totally happen" is "the krakkas would never tell her story", as if pretty much all historiography we got about her didnt come from white people, after all, it isnt the illetrate slaves who are writing books about her.

And now shes in Civilization VI of all things.

Seriously? This was the best image they could find?
If you scroll down, they have pictures of the versions from Gotham, the DCAU, the Nolan movies, and the Arkham games for their respective sections. You'll notice that all of them have really crappy image resolutions, though, which is a requirement for fair use under their non-free content policy.

I guess cosplay of a copyrighted character is enough of a legal grey area that it flies under the radar.

Of course the Wiktionary entry on "freak" uses this quote as an example:

Gentrification often starts with the artists, revolutionaries, freaks, transfolks, and queers (what I would call my people) moving into poor neighborhoods inhabited by people of color.

Does everything have to be about "identity politics" to the SJW freaks?

Surprisingly the Grooming gangs scandal AFD was closed as keep. Unsurprisingly, Simon and SurfBoy took it upon themselves to start screeching at the closer for considering opinions contrary to theirs. Simon has mostly just complained about twitter users and how that should be enough to void the AFD, but Surf accused most of the people who voted against them of being canvassed. Obvious personal attacks, but no one would dare block them. They finally make a bunch of excuses as to why their bad argument lost, mostly blaming Musk. I see this ending up in a deletion review soon enough, though if they’ll actually get anywhere is unsure
