Lalo Schifrin, composer that created the Mission Impossible theme died at the age of 93.
His score for Dirty Harry on top of being perfect on the whole, featured one of the sickest tracks ever made for a movie.

His score for Magnum Force is also a top one as well.

And the score for Enter The Dragon

His score for the 1965 spy movie parody "The Liquidator" with the title theme sung by Shirley Bassey

Among others, his 1962 original album "Piano Strings and Bossa Nova" is worth listening to, every track is golden.

I saw Lalo Schifrin perform on a ski mountain in a summer music festival when I was 13 or 14 (many many moons ago.) I didn't know who he was. I don't even remember if he played or conducted. I just remember sitting on the hill, reading the program and loving what I was hearing under those stars.

Thanks for the memory. RIP

Kota, the youngest male orangutan at the Little Rock Zoo, died this week due to encephalitis, or lesions on the brain, according to zoo caretakers.

According to a release by the zoo, gross necropsy showed lesions on Kota’s brain indicative of diffuse encephalopathy, or widespread dysfunction of the brain and brain hemorrhaging. Lab sample results should reveal a more specific cause.

“Kota quickly captured the hearts of guests and staff and will be greatly missed by all,” a zoo caretaker said.

Kota was born at the Little Rock Zoo on February 23, 2024, and was the son of Berani and Bandar. He was the second baby born to the pair after Kasih was born in 2019.

Haven't seen any posts yet and not even sure if any people will know him too well here, but resident bad-think blogger Z-man is fucking dead (archive from RAMZPAUL on X). People that he worked with online are corroborating that he died of natural causes sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning (archive). His last post about free will from yesterday still has some speculating that he may have killed himself, but his associates coming out to say it was natural makes me doubt that theory.

The Southern Poverty Law Center outed him as John Christopher Zander (archive) a few years back because he dared to say that whitey is being targeted by governments. In the article, they say he was 55 at the time, so he would have been about 58-59 this year. I never read/listened to him a ton myself, but he seemed like a thoughtful person. RIP Z.
I’ve been a regular reader of his and subscribed to his podcast since the beginning. Whether he killed himself or not, you never know. He moved to West Virginia a couple years ago and while that’s better than Baltimore, he still did effectively isolate himself. He had no children nor was he married, so I could easily see him saying “welp, fuck it.”

He used to have 1000 Cities Falling from The Sadies as his ending theme on his podcast so I’ll listen to that in tribute:

RIP

Dude was 6'5", 230 lbs, and nicknamed "The Cobra." Mm-hmm. 😉

When asked why the wore a gold Star of David necklace, Parker replied, "Because my name's David and I'm a star."

What a trip. RIP Cobra! 🐍

90 year old actor with many popular roles who won multiple awards dies - "Oh yeah. I remember them."
When would a 90 year old have most likely won those awards? Decades prior? Hate to break it to you but the people that would have cared are also old and dying.
Rock star from influential 1970's band dies - "He had some good songs."
The start of the 1970s was over 50 years ago. Fame doesn't last forever and just cuz you were famous tears ago doesn't mean you'll be world famous when you die later in life of older age.
Obscure YouTuber dies - "HOLY FUCK LET'S ALL GO ON AND ON FOR PAGES ABOUT THE FOX LADY!!!"
I wouldn't say obscure as she was big enough for youtubes algorithm to throw in my shorts randomly. I'm not sure why youre surprised that a person that is somewhat relevant in the moment is more well known than people tha were famous decades ago.

Anyone know how Mikayla Raines husband was able to afford all of those expensive cars he had? That was the most sus thing about her and her charity imo but surprisingly nobody really mentioned it except here and there in passing. If you look at their income statements it appears like theres a lot of money unaccounted for (at least how I saw)
