It's not exactly a "hot take" -- if you look through this thread, Nova's enablers are generally looked upon with disdain.

As to why? Our society is obsessed with celebrities. There is a sizeable subset of people who are desperate for an encounter with a celebrity. They'll never meet Tom Cruise or Taylor Swift, so this whole new set of bottom-tier "celebrities" have been created to meet the demand. These dipshits can take a photo with a TikTok'er and share it with their similarly retarded peers for a miniscule amount of clout.

Another angle is some form of hipsterism -- pretending to like something objectively bad in a futile attempt to appear unique and interesting, themselves.
