I acknowledge Jason is an adult, but for the purposes of empathy and understanding, I don't think it's intellectually honest to just go "He's a dick!' and move on. As we saw in the Dr. K video, there's some kind of mental immune system kicking in when he feels like someone says he might be wrong or even worse (to Jason, anyway), he could be right and people would still be upset.

In children, this behavior can be indicative of a dynamic at home where one or either of the parents might do that thing where they say "Your feelings don't matter, what matters is the facts." and then the kid expects the whole world to work that way, and gets upset when they're expected to behave differently. It can feel unfair that at home your father might say "It doesn't matter that you're upset. I'm correct. Here's why. See?" but then at school the teacher tells you you need to apologize to Britney for hurting her feelings when you told her unicorns aren't real.

Gay Nerd Syndrome is a tough one. The fallback is always “humans are illogical” but the snag there is that this means even their insistence on “the facts” is mediated by personal motivations.

Honestly, I think his psychiatric diagnosis is just split upon whether you believe Mald genuinely believes in his lies of being right all the time, or if he just doesn't want people to ever see him be wrong.

I've wondered if he believes his own lies and is therefore truly delusional or he's self aware but can't stand not being in absolute control so uses lies as a tool. It'd probably take a lot of time with a professional to figure that out and people like him don't want to be told anything is wrong with them so it'll never happen. It is very interesting to watch a streamer behave this way while trying to control the narrative when they're aware a camera is on them for most of their waking hours.

Wearing my age a bit here, but do any of you remember the World Opponent Network, mPlayer, and GameSpy Arcade? I’ve been seeing chatter that even back in the late 90s and early 2000s that multiplayer games could be shuttered. People have always managed way to revive the master servers so people could use server browsers, though likely not without a concerted effort.

I think the early ones effectively just handled game search, and the games themselves supported direct connection if you did have an IP. There are replacements like GameRanger. Also notably, Halo: Combat Evolved was updated to decouple it from GameSpy, once it had been shut down.

Pirate Software brings FFXIV as a main example when 75% of the game is a single player title, also bringing a stupid example of "Good luck soloing raids" when majority of the game is single player and having to have veteran friends of yours or you being a veteran having to wait for them to reach a certain point of the game to be able to play specific content with them like the Nier raids.

Even if FFXIV was unfriendly to solo play. If you were able to host your own server or offline sessions, you would be able to mod the game to make it solo friendly.
This is something private servers allready do anyway.

He is really hung up on the "why would you play these games without 1000's of faggots running around on the same server?" idea.
He can't comprehend that maybe a few friends just want to get together one day and play some old game they used to play even if it is long dead.
