So, this forum is directly responsible for:

1) saving a bunch of baby monkeys and getting their torturers thrown in prison
2) assisting in getting hundreds of thousands of petitions signed to save video games from being obsoleted
3) killing hundreds of trannies

And normies look at all of us with disdain when we are quite literally doing the Lord’s word. Congratulations, everyone.

They're now trying to cast doubt on it with "muh bots". Start the clock for when they inevitably blame Russia.

...this is somehow gonna turn into GamerGate 3, isn't it?

Prior to 10 months ago I don't believe Pirate actually went aggro on anybody right? He was just known as cool hacker man/security expert/indie dev/ex-blizz employee. He was under the good graces of most (Who hadn't dealt with him prior to his Youtube shorts). I feel like getting big on Youtube shorts then Twitch lead to him getting such an ego that he wanted to try swinging his dick at someone to exert his power. As if he was a king maker or could end your career. And he saw Ross as dimwitted and an easy target to utterly shut down. Funny how it back fired so badly on his first try to destroy something, even if it took awhile.

I suspect this will result in live-service game makers just putting their live-service games under a subsidiary they can terminate so that the EU has nobody to prosecute when a live-service game dies. Whether that's better or worse than the status quo, though, I don't know. Forgive me if this has been discussed before; it's a big thread.
This would be far too much work. Bare in mind that at these corporations they don't generally plan ahead to shut the game off. Shutting the game off is usually done by an executive who they recently hired who's looking to downsize parts of the company. And they just look at this thing bleeding them dry and go "yeah turn it off". They aren't going "yeah let's prepare ahead of time to shut this game off" because if they were they'd likely have an end of life plan to begin with.

No. This guy always sucked, and didn’t have the respect of anyone - especially in the cybersecurity community. Going to Black Hat and DEFCON doesn’t mean you’re a leet hackzor. Dude knew enough jargon to pull the wool over the eyes of people who didn’t know better, which happens to be a ton of people.

That's what I believe as well. He had no idea who Ross was when he saw him and figured he could take a dump on some goofy looking sperg (sorry Ross), and bag some points from his audience as the defender of "muh industry integrity" + indie dev autonomy.

It was just a grift too far.

It did. He's been a dickhead in every MMO he's played (EvE/WoW/AoC), it was just noticed more in the latter 2 examples, because he had blown up by then.

@larossmann just casually giving Ross almost 3K :semperfidelis:
Moldman is gonna buy 2 bags of beans tonight!

I mean, this seems kind of naive and forgive me for sucking a bit of corpo executive cock here, but... if there isn't an EOL plan from the start, and these games are just getting terminated by executive fiat, the executives are kind of in the right and I pity them for having to wrangle an organization full of retards who didn't think to themselves "maybe we won't be able to keep this server running until the heat death of the universe and we should have a plan for what to do when we decide to turn it off".

The only issue here is that all of these live service games are cash-grabs as fuck. No one is making live service anything for the love of the medium. Every single live service game is made with the hope of raking in exponential returns.

It's generally understood when making these turds that it's a gamble and if it doesn't hit, it gets cancelled and the next try gets rolled out. I'm not gonna pat an exec on the back for shutting down his grift when its not profitable for him.

Either reality is an unacceptable outcome and this will slap the hands of who ever needs them slapped to start better practices.

Pirate is a shitty algorithm exploiter and I would block his visage from my eyes if possible
It's also important to note that he shoves dog dildos up his butt. In fact, I believe that all people having a conversation about Mald should be aware of this. If he ever comes close to anything resembling a win it should include that in the asterisk.

OR until he beats Armed & Delirious without any help.
Even with help he's still going to have issues. I'd like to see him pull his phone out for this one:
