The caller was claiming that hosting MMOs like WoW where they use complex databases and over 50 servers is impossible and its not.

You literally have guides out there for self hosting a server and using dockers for self hosting those services in a isolated service.

So you can practically self host any MMO, they just written in such shitty ways to prevent for easy use for customers, but it wont take much to do it.... I just keep seeing excuses that companies cant allow customers to self host servers when there are hundreds and private servers existing out there.

Literally the first "MMORPG", Meridian 59, is perfectly self-hostable and still has community-hosted servers to this day. Ragnarok Online is similarly self-hostable with community servers, too, if memory serves. There's literally no excuse but "We didn't make it that way"

However, for Mald to cope that he had nothing to do with its anemic pace afterwards is horrendously disingenuous, so basically entirely on-brand. Faggot went on record saying that he was going to tell everyone he knew not to support it, and given he hadn't completely torched his own credibility at that point, there's probably a fair amount of people that listened to him. Add onto that second- and third-order communications as those people told others not to support it, coupled with the misinformation spreading around that he directly caused, and it's safe to say that even if he wasn't the primary driver of the slump, he definitely played a big role.
