OR companies should be forced to tell you that the game will die and give you expiration date and you change the word "buying" on "renting"
Which is less likely due them not knowing the date themselves and the hit on sales that they will get.

Well, sometimes older motherboards can only accept later gen CPUs with the same socket only after a BIOS update - otherwise they just wouldn't work. Happened to me when I upgraded my computer.
Although if this is a modern motherboard (as in "made within the last 10 years or so"), there is nothing to worry about while updating BIOS - even in case of sudden power loss, there is a backup chip from which you can recover the system. You are not gonna brick it if you follow the instructions.

it wouldnt leave them liable, corporations just dont like any potential brand risk which is why they pushed to make sites like youtube into teletubby braindead shit. the idea of a headline like "christchurch shooter made custom gamemodes in private ubislop server" makes them shit themselves in fear and anger over any potential lost connection or profit, its just saying that seems subhuman so they try and dress it up with something more sympathetic that wont happen.

Steam was forced to say that they sell licenses to games not ownership to digital goods, it'll go that route.

I can believe the swatting claims although they were probably just wellness checks. Lets face it anyone who has their identity out there and gets into an internet slapfight will have similar stuff happen to them at some scale at this point in time.

From what I know its possible to get police reports for the call out though (maybe it depends on the state) so this is easily proven/disproven.
