Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

I don’t think indie games are going to save gaming at all. Most indie games are shovelware slop that consists of 5000 variations of Metroid or some other game genre that is severely overused, a shiton of asset flips that makes the game both buggy and cancerous to look at thanks to UE5 slop, shoving of modern day soy politics, “innovative and quirky” games that seem to be forgotten after 2 months, art styles that seems to be boring nostalgia bait, and it just feels so unoriginal as a result.

Synthetic Man is right about one thing, Gaming is fucking dying and nothing is going to change it.

"Saving gaming" is a term that means literally nothing.

And for good measure, camping is a legitimate strategy in shooters if you're playing a sniper. Too many faggots get unironically mad that people playing as the "sit in one spot for hours just to take one shot" soldiers do just that instead of sprinting around the map quick-scoping.
One thing I've encountered in more mainstream arcade FPS games like CoD is when people call defending an objective camping, it always really bothered me that there's people so mindraped that they think playing the objective is somehow a bad thing. A similar thing relating to snipers and again kind of specific in CoD, mainly when Black Ops 2 and the whole quick-scoping Faze shit was popular, is when you're using snipers properly you were called a "hard-scoper." I understand calling someone a hard-scoper if you're doing a 1v1 quick-scopes only but this is the type of shit people say in public matches to cope about how they got fucked by a person using snipers in their intended way.

yeah I agree Indie Games suck for the most part but pretending the Industry is in some sort of apocalyptic level collapse is delusional, there is a massive disconnect between gamers who post shit on the internet and your average casual who doesn't pay attention to that shit and just plays, Ive talked to that crowd before, one even said he didn't even know people were that upset about Mario Kart being $80 and that he paid for the Deadman Edition of WWE 2k25 which costs $100, and that disconnect continues to baffle me in ways I don't even expect, the Halo series is a huge example of this, I see people complaining about that game all the time on Twitter but if you go onto Halo Infinite and went into a matchmade game in the multiplayer youd still find people playing it esepecially during Peak Hours I can find a Big Team Battle match in under 2 mins, I think a lot of these I Despise Modern Gaming people need to really look themselves in the mirror and contemplate if they are the majority of people, and that isn't to say that there's no valid criticism but you have to put things into perspective sometimes

While I understand the nostalgia for PS3/Xbox 360, I feel some of that comes from rose tinted glasses from sensationalism. You try playing a seventh generation game on a modern TV, you'd notice jagged anti-aliasing or poorer performance. Perhaps the advances of technology have spoiled us once you're used to them. It doesn't feel new anymore.
I'm the kind of nostalgia lord who goes back and plays something from some variety of Yesteryear at least once a week, and I've discovered that I think late PS2/Dreamcast/GameCube is peak aesthetic. I wasn't even a kid any more by then, but it's just great. Environments are highly detailed but they lack the overstimulating clutter of modern games. If there's one thing I absolutely despise about modern game design, it's clutter. I can't tell what the fuck anything is. I get that real life is cluttered, but I'm not looking at real life through a tiny window that takes up maybe 25% of my vision at best. Please design accordingly.

PS3 is when we entered the Real Is Brown era which I also really didn't like.

From my point of view, the early 2010s was when we reached peak graphics in terms of pleasing aesthetic world design, at least in the West. Everything after that is just overcompensating with nonsensical details (like fucking nosehairs) and brown environments everywhere.

When I looked out at the design in places like Mass Effect 2's Bekenstein and War for Cybertron's Iacon City, I looked at how pretty these environments could get. And everything after just either went with the gritty war-torn stuff or browns and greys, which just felt over-done.

Had ET been made for a more powerful system with more buttons on the controller and had a longer development time, it'd be a decent game.
Yep. We would have a lower fidelity of ass and titties.
A game endorsed by Yoko Taro would never have lower fidelity ass and titties. 2B's ass has more polygons than the entirety of Bubsy 3D.

Skins in multiplayer games are getting progressively worse and there is little creativity in modern games and what they can customize to the player. So far, only Rocket League and Counter-Strike have the option to change the soundtrack of your choice in-game. If they won't allow you to mod the fucking game like the lazy kikes they are, why can't they offer unique in-game options for the player to play around with?

name one thing wrong with it (pro tip: you can't)
wrong, live service.

comparing modern shit to old stuff is beyond unfair since to make buby's model you'd need to initate the rendering rites on some neolithic ages hardware and pray it didn't crash or the power went out during the rendering.
