It's honestly a complex answer.

First and foremost, money. The new left was backed by wealthy elites that saw opportunity in ostensibly left-wing policies for their benefit - see the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 that opened the floodgates of immigration and thereby destroyed national cohesion and identity in favor of a vague idea of "America" that means nothing but a special economic zone at the expense of American workers. Or the warmonger LBJ's "Great Society" programs, that allowed corporations to underpay and exploit workers and push the costs onto the people with no accountability.

Culture wars and racial issues were also a convenient distraction from class issues during this same period, and always get whipped up by the new left whenever the latter come to the forefront. It's no coincidence all this kicked off in recent history during the Great Recession.

The "cargo cult" aspect for us is just nostalgia for a time where a cohesive national and cultural identity led to a sense of community, great collective accomplishments and economic and personal security as well as state power to defend it. Not really different from people on the right and Tsarist Russia, the interwar fascist states, or the 1920s/1950s USA (among others) depending on their particular beliefs within their side of the continuum...people desire a sense of community when their sense of identity is threatened. Ironically it's very reactionary by definition.

Now there is no real opposing force against the exploitation of globalist capitalism, just a disorganized populist pushback similar to the latter Gilded Age. A good start, certainly, but it requires something much more concrete and abandoning the myths of capitalism to achieve real change. It's not a coincidence the AfD's power base is in the former East Germany.

For some reason I thought the EV stuff was why he had the spat with Trump on X but I might be misremembering. If that's the case then my bad, my memory was off.

Solar and wind are the most expensive forms of energy by far because they're unreliable and require a dispatchable power source (i.e. fossil fuels, nuclear, hydro, etc.) to back them up. This of course begs the question, if I have to build a backup plant, why would I not just use it all the time and not waste money on the solar/wind farm?

CAFE is also pretty much dead. BBB took away the penalties for not meeting fuel efficiency standards and Tesla makes a lot of money selling regulatory credits to other auto companies like how Catholic priests used to sell indulgences.

It was the EV gibs AND the solar gibs as well. Not sure why he didn't do the the Thiel/Palantir stuff, they are shaping up to be a serious defense contractor.

Give me a quick rundown on the CAFE specifics, I've had a grudge against that law for a while and eagerly await the return of the small car. Has it been reduced to reasonable levels?

Cope from who? You asked what Trump's plan was, and I replied with what he said around the time of the California wildfires and Helene.

In terms of manpower, again, just look at Florida. They organized local groups like Florida National Guard and Florida Coast Guard, then also called in additional resources from cooperating agencies across the country, some as far away as California. They also partnered with Federal resources and non-profit groups as well.

The main difference is that they organized it themselves instead of relying on the Federal government to do everything for them. They weren't entirely isolationist either as they did use FEMA money to fund part of the response.
By all accounts they do a great job, and set up strategies ahead of time before the natural disaster hit, rapid response teams in the direct aftermath, and clean up crews after.

Do I think this would always be the case? No, of course not. It would entirely depend on the competency and management skills of the state government in question. Is that reason alone enough to make the federal government the coordinator of the entire response? Well, from what we've seen recently and in the past FEMA tends to be slow, showing up weeks after in some cases, has discriminated against those in need, and has shown incompetency itself.

Like with anything there would be pros and cons to letting the states self-manage, but I'm leaning towards favoring it. States like California who love to embezzle federal funds and bumble around would suffer of course, but that's nothing new.

See, this why I’m a 2A extremist. Any food-stamp dependent family like this should be issued a .380 hi-point automatic and a box of ammo at least twice a year. Let’s go beyond the ‘right’ to bear arms and into the responsibility to do so. Sooner or later the niglets are going to misadventure themselves to the point that their numbers will decrease and that’s good for the bottom line all round.

Of course, the phrase ‘globalist capitalism’ is silly when globalists happily shift from communism to capitalism to callithumpianism depending on whichever allows them to sleaze themselves and their resources across borders most easily.
