The horrifying thing about Tesla is if you look at the time, expense and hassle that he’s gone through, plus the ecological damage that lithium mining does… if he’d pumped all those resources into hydrogen fuel cells refillable from solar-powered home stations, he’d likely have 30+ percent of the domestic car market by now. Imagine vehicles that produce zero pollution and run on the equivalent of a quarter per gallon.
For years, ‘fringe’ scientists and conspiracy scholars have talked about the killing of the ‘water powered car’ and the mysterious death of Stanley Meyer, its inventor. Musk could have picked up that opportunity and for the life of me I will never know why he didn’t.
Apparently Toyota is abandoning battery and hybrid EVs and aiming to move to hydrogen in the next 5-10 years. Elon could have stolen the march on them but was too busy slamming toad skins and ayahuasca and impregnating weird chicks.
