Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

I think it'd be a bit silly to have the pre-production staff like concept artists and researchers be paid to stare out the window all day.
Honestly quite interesting how 10 people can create an entire concept and hype surrounding a concept, ie. a new anime, whereas 800 developers will mush together a non-distinct blob and call it Witcher 4. No wonder indie games can reach a broader audience; the idea matters more than the manpower.

There definitely seems to be a sweet spot on dev team sizes, and once you pass 100 members it starts to get messy.

This absolutely fucking sucks because I found the first season really enjoyable and feel like if they try another season it’s just going to be even more phoned in and cringe. The reason it worked was because it was basically a one season advertisement for the game, trying it again before we even see Cyberpunk 2/orion is a stupid move as it would make much more sense to co-release and be based within the second game.

Apparently there's an update tomorrow. Gonna focus on adding more vehicles(lol) and more photomode shit(lmao).

I mean it's neat that they're still doing stuff for the game, I guess, but cars and photomode? Unless they're expanding the customization of the cars beyond shitty paint jobs I don't see the appeal in adding more. And photomode stuff is completely irrelevant. Feel like an expansion of the cyberwear/another creation update in general would be more enticing since the character creation is still very limited compared to all the other characters and worthelsss NPCs we see.

I feel like there were rumors of an actual dlc/expansion too.

Can't these people leave the game the fuck alone? If it's really more cars, an expanded photo mode, and even more coomer shit Nexus has you more than covered.

I feel like there were rumors of an actual dlc/expansion too.

That rumor is for Witcher 3, but I can't see it as Fool's Theory is busy ruining Witcher 1 and the game is a decade old.

i for one am glad they finally gave us the car autodriving places thing so i dont have to crash into a corner 20 times (im just shit at driving in games)

A new expansion would make sense with how this game still prints money, but the problem is the game really only has two points where it could be put in, either turn the opening half a year with Jackie video into a full game expansion or make it a new side story at the expense of immediate character customization like the GTAIV expansions did.

4 new vehicles. 3 of them have little side quests. One is a weaponized truck you can just buy.

You can change the paint job of every vehicle now, and they added in more paint jobs.

Autodrive is whatever. Wouldn't have been needed or wanted if the driving controls were better. Has a cinematic camera though, so I guess it's photomode bait more than anything.

Can use Del as an actual taxi now. Johnny chills with you in the back.

Don't give a fuck about the photomode additions.

That's the only spot I could think of to put one in as well. Anything else would either require massive restrictions like playing as a completely different character, or would require them to pick an ending to build off of which lol. Lmao even.
even more coomer
I'd argue there's actually a shocking lack of coomer shit in this game, all things considered. Most of it is just implied with dialog. Sure there's lots of tits and a handful of sex scenes but it's all pretty tame. Safe horny, if you will. Hell the US version, idk about others, was even too afraid to let your V be naked in game so you're always wearing undies outside of the inventory screen or character creation.

Which is pretty funny. All this horrific violence but you can't have your character run out with his dick out while doing it and the romance scenes are Dragon Age Origins tier. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of being "mature" by adding nudity, innit?

If you are a fan of traditional Pen and paper RPGs and have a few friends, then I would also recommend checking out the original Cyberpunk 2020 RPG if you REALLY want more of what the world has to offer.
If you've done much with CP2013/2020 you see how much stuff Pondsmith put into CP2077 that isn't necessary for the story, but adds crazy depth to things. The flashback missions where you play as Johnny are not just recreations of sample adventures from the original RPG, but hugely corrupted versions of those stories. Arasaka's copy of Johnny's engram is from an already splattered and previously soulkilled Johnny, and not just that but their copy had been used to simulate Morgan Blackhand's part in the heist that they could partially rebuild from security footage and whatever after he blew his cover to get what was left of Johnny's team out. The weird cut after Smasher kills Johnny (or almost does, AI Alt soul soulkills him just before he dies needlessly rushing Smasher thinking it will buy time for Spider Murphy, Rogue, and whoever else it was - Shaitan?) is the switch to Arasaka's simulation of Blackhand and his fight with Adam Smasher.

It makes more sense then why AI Alt bothered to show up when she sniffed out the bits of corrupted Johnny, since she probably still knows where the real one is. It would have had signs of Arasaka all over it, and could only have come from the replacement Mikoshi that she couldn't get into.

Pondsmith did a nice job letting people who would care enough of what happened, and then put out CP/RED to fill out the timeline, because "Why are Maelstrom and the idiot Tyger Claws suddenly such a big deal now?" and "Why are the Voodoo Boys actually Hatians and not LARPing white dudes?" are questions that probably needed to be answered for the tabletop game.

I would have liked more of a Bozo presence, and maybe some Inquisitors. Inquisitors could have been random like the little street parties the scavs have in the slummier areas, and automatically hostile if you've got too much cyberware and friendly if not.

Part of the 2.3 announcement was Cyberpunk 2077 actually getting a Mac release date. (tl;dr, announced to release early 2025, but was delayed)

It's released, and has already become the most popular paid game on the Mac App Store, although in absolute fairness, it didn't have much recent competition.

As part of the launch, one of the Apple senior execs, Greg Jozwiak, was at CDPR and tweeted about it.

Quite a few benchmarks appearing on Youtube and elsewhere, with some interesting results appearing, namely the addition of a 'For this Mac' preset, which seems to target 30/60 FPS, depending on the machine.

A standard M4 Mac mini gets a preset of Texture Quality: High, 1920x1080p, full screen, with MetalFX set to Dynamic Resolution Scaling, sharpness of 0.5, target FPS of 30, min resolution 50%, max resolution 80% and ray tracing disabled.

This auto drive feature is dogshit and really shows how awful their pathing is. Your car constantly comes to screeching halts to take turns, is endlessly brake pumping, and if something gets in the way there's a good chance you'll just stall because the game doesn't know how to turn you around. Like you can tell path finding is fucked just by watching the NPCs drive and walk, but it's really rough when you can see it happening to you.
There's also apparently like 100+ new paint jobs but everything looks the same, so idk how true that is unless they count "new" paint jobs as being able to put old ones on new cars. Not sure why they even bother with car colors anyway since 9/10 of them are just solid block colors. Would have been much more worthwhile to give us paintjobs for the weapons, since there's a dozen of those for every single one in the game. Dunno why we've never been allowed that feature.
The photomode stuff is even more pointless than I initially thought, and I cannot fathom why they would continue to waste any amount of time or resources on additions to it. If you insist on continuing to do stuff for the game, it should be centered on the actual gameplay. Either balance changes or gameplay additions. Photomode isn't gameplay and should never be a priority.
