OK, I plead autist retardation wrt the last thread, so I'm gonna try this shit again:
SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. —
Despite requests, warnings, strict regulations and the threat of hefty fines, the night sky over Northern California lit up with the flashes and booms of thousands of illegal fireworks.
The Sacramento Fire Department alone issued about 50 citations on Friday night in addition to eight on Thursday night.
One particularly chaotic scene Friday night unfolded in Orangevale as hundreds gathered near Greenback Lane and Main Avenue to launch illegal fireworks.
Sac Metro firefighters responded to the area around 10:00 p.m. after witnesses saw people using sparklers to light a palm tree on fire.
As crews worked to extinguish those flames, more illegal fireworks flashed and popped in the surrounding area.
CHP officers, Folsom Police officers and Sacramento County deputies rushed to the area to manage the volatile situation.
At 10:45 p.m., CHP officers detained a man after witnesses saw him launch a firework toward firefighters. Officers have not released more information about the man who was taken into custody.
"This is just outrageously insane," Sac Metro Fire Battalion Chief Chris Vestal said. "You have everyone shooting off a bunch of illegal fireworks. They're shooting them over at us earlier and it's dangerous. It's absolutely rude for people to be doing that as we're trying to protect businesses, protect the economy of this area and really make sure people can stay safe so they can have a fun Fourth of July."
Illegal fireworks in that area continued well beyond midnight.
A spokesperson for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office told KCRA 3 no citations were issued at that particular location – despite illegal fireworks being launched right in front of deputies.
“We have a crowd that is like 200 plus people. And once you are trying to go and give a citation, all of a sudden, all that crowd comes, and it gets very chaotic. People are running away. People are trying to push deputies away. So, by that moment they're gone. You can't find them,” Ambar Vicente, a detective with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, said.
Vicente said this gathering has been happening for years and they stationed extra deputies in the area to make sure people are safe. But, on a night like the 4th of July, she said deputies are spread thin.
“It was full enforcement. However, the amount of people that were there, it became difficult for the amount of deputies that we had working the streets,” she said. "We have people getting hurt, getting stabbed, different calls for service on top of trying to have the safety and people not get hurt while those fireworks are going off."
LiveCopter 3 flew across the region for hours capturing illegal fireworks and first responders rapidly responding to a variety of calls. Click here to see the full raw footage from LiveCopter 3.
Flames in the Florin area of Sacramento caused significant damage to at least two homes. It's not yet clear what started that fire on Hardester Drive near Exbourne Circle.
A fire at an industrial warehouse erupted through the roof along Frasinetti Road in Sacramento County just after 9:30 p.m.
Sac Metro Fire said that as of 6 a.m. on Saturday there have been around 280 dispatched calls from the Sacramento Regional Fire/EMS Communications Center.
There have been 101 calls about grass fires, 14 calls about commercial fires, 16 calls about residential fires, 22 calls about trash fires and 15 calls about tree fires. For other types of fires such as shrubbery fires, there have been 112 calls.
In Placer County, homeowners were evacuated for part of the evening near Lincoln due to a fire that sparked near Bickford Ranch Road near Sierra College Boulevard.
The Turlock Fire Department said it responded to a total of 75 incidents on the Fourth of July, including 14 fires. This included a structure fire at the 2300 block of Trail way that started in a garage and extended into the home. It displaced five people and took 40 minutes to get under control.
Video (had to go to Youtube for this puppy):
OK, now that I've repented for being a fucktard, let me say this: This was absolutely fucking stoopid, and instead of actually arresting the guys with some sort of weird bazooka like thingy who is shooting semi-commercial grade fireworks at them, the pigs and the firefighters are just standing around in the middle of Greenback Lane like a bunch of autist gooneybirds watching people shoot off ginormous fireworks literally right in front of them. At least that burning palm tree didn't light the whole fucking neighborhood on fire.
