UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

"put humanity before politics"
Radio 4 had the experts on about this today, long and short of it is that the crossings must be stopped by giving them a safe and legal route instead. So increased numbers and automatic citizenship.

I'm exaggerating slightly.

I was at the pub last night and ran into a fun conversation. Spotty nerd that ran for Labour here last election talking to an autist on the state of Britain. Immigration came up and Labour guy said he thought immigration was a good thing. Autistic guy spent the next 45 minutes ranting about immigration statistics and how bad they are for the economy. I sat back and enjoyed watching the spotty Labour guy try to hold it together as he couldn't believe what he was hearing.

Whoever wrote this is retarded beyond measure.
Not necessarily. But certainly a traitor. I'm beginning to think these people aren't retards, but are malevolent. They can't be reasoned with.....

Watching the cricket. I long for the day when we play India in the Summer and it doesn't look like an away fixture. I was going to say it should be expected, it is Edgbaston. But would it be any different at Lord's, the Oval, Old Trafford, Headingley or Trent Bridge......Incessant pajeet drumming.

I am merely looking at the facts and pointing that the way things are going the odds on a GE are very good
There will be lots of plotting and horse trading during the summer break - at the very least Diane Abbott, Mother of The House will waddle over to her ex's new party. Labour have been schismatic for years, so it will be interesting seeing who follows in her footsteps.
I think the outcome will be a leadership election. If Rayner gets it she'll make Liz Truss look like a political genius. Make sure your pantry is stocked and you've got plenty of candles.

Child grooming in London at 'catastrophic' levels
Of course it's worse in London than anywhere else. It's where all the politicians, financiers and celebrities congregate. :)
Levels of child grooming in London are "more catastrophic" than anywhere else in the country, a care sector activist and abuse survivor has said.
Chris Wild said grooming and criminal exploitation are rife in the capital, and it is being missed due to poor data-sharing and underfunded services.
A review by Baroness Louise Casey into child grooming gangs across England found a "mismatch" in the way the way the Metropolitan Police and local authorities record child abuse.
The force said it would improve data collection, while the Home Office said it was implementing the "the largest ever" package of measures to tackle child sexual abuse.
According to the report, the Met logged 2.77 contact child sexual abuse cases per 1,000 children, while London boroughs recorded just 1.3 child-in-need assessments for child sexual exploitation and 1.79 for child sexual abuse.
The inconsistency could suggest some cases are slipping through the cracks.
Mr Wild said he had worked in this sector for 10 years, predominantly in London.
He entered the care system in Halifax, West Yorkshire aged 11, following the death of his father and decline in his mother's mental health.
"It wasn't just any children's home, it was a children's home run by paedophiles," he said.
Mr Wild has since campaigned for reforms aimed at protecting children in the care system.
He said he had seen "children being groomed, children going missing, forced into county lines [drug gangs]".
He believes grooming gangs in London target vulnerable children for an "expansive" range of purposes, ranging from drug dealing to prostitution.
A Met Police spokesperson said "too many victims, particularly young girls, were let down" and that "policing must and will do better".
"While in London we assess that criminal exploitation, such as county lines, currently poses the most prevalent threat to children, we recognise - as the review finds - that our data must improve to give a fuller picture. We are acting on this," they added.
Warda Mohamed, founder of safeguarding charity Lasting Support, said the lack of consistent data fuelled public ignorance.
"If people knew exactly how bad it was, with all the intercity details involved, then yes, there would be more interest," she said.
Ms Mohamed added that cuts to services have left vulnerable children without regular contact with adults who can spot abuse.
Mr Wild called on politicians and public bodies to act to prevent the loss of another "generation of young people through ignorance".
A Home Office spokesperson said they "accepted all of the recommendations" in Baroness Casey's report, including protecting children and supporting victims.
"They should stop being blamed for the appalling crimes committed against them."

The amount of these child rape gangs still operating in "da norf" is pretty astounding when you think about how much publicity has been put onto it as of late. They know the system will protect them and fight against any inquiry at every turn because their all in on it too. These small towns are pretty much over run with these people to the point you can't even report it due to "community cohesion" or the classic "you're racist".

Where I grew up is still full of it, they don't even try to hide it either and it gets reported all the time but nothing comes of it. I never intend to go back there.

He was found not guilty. Did I miss type?

His lawyer wanted him to peruse legal action after the trail but he was smart enough not to. They’d have made his life a misery.

Look at Manchester police do to women who complain about them and think what the police will happily do to a man the press won’t care about.
He didn’t sue the police after being found guilty as he knew that his life would be over if he did that.
Yes, must have mistyped it. Thought it odd that duch a jury would have found him guilty if that was the evidence.

The thing to understand, aside from as mentioned many times that Labour do not care about their popularity, there people or indeed much of anything, is that Starmer ultimately cannot and does not make his decision in a vaccuum.

As is the norm for British politics vast amounts of money have been spent fiddling with the election, the climate going into it for years before and ensuring the right MPs are on side. The groups and individuals who spent that money expect Labour to provide a return on their investment. If Keir goes, "well, this job is hard. Guess I'll call it a day," there will be some exceedingly nasty consequences for him.
It looks like more than a few of them aren't onside though - the numbers against the disability bill from Labour were staggering and now we have the new Jezbollah Party to look forward to.

I might well be wrong, but I can't shake off (no Taylor Swift puns please!) the feeling that something major is going to happen which will rip everything up.

We'll just have to see what happens, if anything does then I'll post anything related to the subject over in happenings.

Call it fed posting but the only way the grooming gangs will be stopped is by vigilante justice. The police will protect the pedophiles, the government will ignore you and protect the pedophiles. Until Big Baz and Terry start cracking skulls nothing will change. We know how bad it is, we know where it's happening and who is doing it. But people fear a knock on the door more than they care about someone else's kids being raped and tortured. Ireland has the right idea. When any child is harmed it needs to become peaceful but firey.

The political party shuffling is interesting. Everyone is trying to muscle in now the two big parties are collapsing but that may help the uniparty. If everyone is split between Paki Party, Reform, Lib Dems, Greens and then the big two the big two are likely to have more votes than the scattered votes against them.

Tempted to agree, the point of reason with the authorities has long since been crossed.

It's fucking terrifying.Bradford, being rammed with Pakis,is the centre of it and Keighley is still awful. Makes Rotherham look like an episode of Thomas The Tank Engine.

It's not helped by the fact that raping children is a favourite of both Muslims and those in power. Look at the Judiciary and their sympathy for pedos.

Peter Hitchens issued some very grave warnings about Starmer, how the deep and far reaching and devastatingly bad the changes he will impose on the country will be. Hitchens called the same about Blair from before he rose to power and was right. He said about Starmer that he is even worse.
What does this general think of Peter Hitchens anyways? Honestly, I like him, more than his brother at least. Alot of people laugh at him because of that interview with Cosmic but I think he often makes some really good points, like in that book "Abolition of Britain." He does have some valid criticisms regarding marijuana and other drugs as well, it's just that can come off as a cranky old boomer about the issue sometimes.

It gets worse.
BBC Politics London has been told that grooming gangs are operating in London and the situation is “more catastrophic” than anywhere else in the country.

It always seemed incredibly suspicious that Birmingham and London seemed completely absent of the grooming gangs problem despite being the melting pot of the third world. We're going to discover it was happening there but the cover up was so deep that bar the complete dissolution of the met police, the courts, the councils and everything else we're not going to be able to get anything done.

Can anyone suggest anywhere in the UK which is predominantly white for a short break, please?

I don't want niggers or pakis ruining my break.
Stirling and the trossachs are probably a good bet. The castle is a good tour and there's some decent walks around.
