There's a difference between loli characters and lolicons. If you don't sexualize megumin, then she's just a hilarious explosion mage. While I have no doubt some loli characters are put there for the lolicons, it doesn't have to be.

From what I remember of it when a friend had me watch it, it really does capture the look of "30 something year old nasty desk job guy who hates everything jammed in the head of a child". Lots of funny expressions.

I dunno about impotent rage, more like the classic "you were always meant to be special" trope. People joke that Harry Potter was the first isekai, and while that's silly, it's very similar in that a new world of possibilities has awakened for you.

I would argue the character of Isekai is too fundamentally different to Harry Potter, though.

What makes Harry Potter special is that he is useful to kill one dude, and is famous for surviving something anyone else would always have survived. He's "The boy who lived" because of a confluence of circumstances any other loving mother could have created. He is not in control, he's a pawn that's put through shit as a footsoldier entirely because his mum made him useful on accident. He as a person is not exceptional. He grows up to be a beat cop, married into a working class family, whilst his friends go on to do more impressive things and wouldn't have done even that without a huge support network. The wizarding world treats him better than the Dursleys and that's enough for him to want to absorb himself into it, but the reality is that the group known to treat him as the most special is the Weasleys and all they do that's special is show him the love and support any child deserves. We even get to see the only sort of escapism he longs for in the Mirror of Erezad: Having his mum and dad back. (the Mirror explicitly can kill you with the fantasy it shows you.) Even his relationship with Voldemort is characterized by his utility as a hoarcrux & symbol. He's peers with a cup and a necklace if he were to fall.

If Harry Potter was an Isekai, he would be over powered, have survived the killing curse because he was just so cool and strong, his feats of strength would guide him to his ultimate destiny of being the next Merlin and the whole world would bow down to accommodate him. He'd have a harem, not have hitched up with the one girl who showed authentic interest in him. Man couldn't even leverage his fame to get and keep a Chinky girl without fucking it up completely. He failed the Linus Tech Tip Challenge.

How the fuck would harry potter be the first? Wizard of oz literally opens with a kid getting sucked to another country via a tornado and predates it by several decades, and there's a lot of stories before that with isekai-type shit.

I wouldn't consider isekai to be a genre. It's more of an exposition vehicle to get the self insert character into middle of the story without much of a prelude and is then for the most part discarded. It more firmly locks the trope into the 2014+ mushoku tensei/shieldbro types, while excluding prior series like SAO/Log Horizon.
It makes it separate from faery/spirited away stories.

I... couldn't tell you. Women have played with dolls and oversized pillows since sewing was a thing. I think that is just part of being a woman. It might be trying to appear cute however. Hololive is a somewhat "safe" brand. There are limits to what their actors are allowed to do. That feels like it fits within
